With less than two months to go until the U.S. election, President Donald Trump is having trouble energizing his core supporters, especially white voters without college degrees who were key to his victory in 2016, a Reuters polling analysis shows.
The analysis, based on Reuters/Ipsos national opinion polling from May to August and 2016 exit poll data, found that Trump has lost support among non-college educated whites, who made up 44% of the U.S. electorate four years ago and heavily favored the Republican over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Trump is still more popular with this group than Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, with 46% saying they would vote for Trump, compared with 34% who back Biden. But his 12-point advantage in August is down from a 21-point lead in May, and well below the 34-point advantage he had over Clinton.
What is more worrisome for Trump, however, is that the constituencys commitment to voting has remained flat this year, while interest has risen among groups that lean toward Democrats: minorities, women, urban and suburban residents and people with below-average incomes.

Congratulations!!!
Quite an honor.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Stop it, youre killing me.
It’s true, all those Trumptillas happening around the country, many in blue states, shows the dwindling support of Trumps backers. Seriously, I wonder if any of the fake journalists that produce this kind of tripe, actually read what they’ve written. I mean the idea that Trump’s support is slipping is so easilly proven false by watching the videos of the boat parades and the numbers of people attending his rallies and the crowds who line up on the roads to watch his motorcade pass by.
Without looking, I’ll bet the internals on this poll are not available. In other words; made up BS.
The CBS / YouGov poll last weekend oversampled Ds by about 20 friggin’ %, so they could show slight Biden leads.
I’ll begin the dig and report later.....
Like hell we are.
That was a really big crowd, and very enthusiastic. This is the first time in my life (born early 60’s) that I am more excited about the next political rally than the start of the NFL. There has never been another President that could connect and communicate with/to the American People. I always thought we would never see another person that could connect and communicate with the American People as well as Reagan did, but Trump has proven me, and I think many others, hugely incorrect.
That is laugh out loud hilarious. Enthusiasm is off the chart this year.
Can you say suppression polls.
Same here. Only voted against HC in 16. Voting FOR Trump this time.
As expected, no internal weighting. They’re comparing useless ‘16 graphs, with useless ‘20 graphs....which proves squat.
Propaganda to try to demoralize his base.
It’s not working.
Bullshit. Like a Black guy told me this morning, Trump supporters are strong.
Steaming pile alert.
Must be why we see all the rallies nationwide.
Stupid article...
dit to
I too was ambivalent about Trump 2016.
This guy has done so damned much and every two weeks I contribute to his campaign and every weekend until the November I am at rallies in the San Francisco Bay Area....
Yeah. 15,000 bored people who just showed up cuz they had nothing else to do.
reuters/Ipsos? separately, they are toxic, together they are fatal.
worse, FakeNewsMSM worldwide - while knowing how wrong the 2016 polls were for Trump and Brexit, and for the later elections of Boris and Scomo parties in UK and Australia - STILL report all these FAKE polls in 2020.
even media people who like Trump in Australia report all these polls on a daily basis. NEVER do they look at who was polled, how they were weighted, other methodology, or whether national polls have meaning, etc, etc.
they just say Biden is still ahead blah blah.
how brain dead are the media?
“lagging in motivation this year”
That is screaming BS! The Democrats are a bigger threat to the country than ever.
