So this guy takes his cash into the state dealer who looks up the nearest delivery date about a decade hence. The guy is happy with the date but asks "morning or afternoon?"
The dealer says it is nearly 10 years away, what difference does it make?
"Well," says the guy, "I have the plumber scheduled to come in the afternoon, so I was really hoping for morning."
It started several years ago. Even for people who are only working there for a few days, like athletes and bands that tour there. Im almost positive, because Rush has mentioned its one of the reasons he doesnt go there to work anymore.

Yes, states have been taxing athletes for time that they work in their state for quite some time. Canada, too. I remember reading a story that an NBA team was in their charter plane circling outside of Canada until after midnight so that they didn’t have to pay Canadian taxes for that day.
If you are not a resident of NYC, you dont have to pay NYC tax
There was a time those working in NYC but living outside did have to pay NYC non-resident income tax, I paid a couple of years when I lived on LI many years ago. Didnt know it changed.
The NYC commuter tax was repealed in 1999.
