Gators Helping Gators: Massive 660-Pound Gator Being Treated by UF Vets

Gators helping Gators.

A 660-pound alligator from St. Augustine needed to see a doctor because his right rear leg was hurt. On Thursday, Bob was transported from St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park to the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The 38-year-old reptile was soon evaluated and found to have a bone infection after having radiographs done.

“Preliminary evaluation showed evidence of osteomyelitis,” the UF vet official account tweeted. “Our zoo med team will continue to monitor his progress. Good luck Bob (& Go Gators!)”

Bob remains on the mend.

“He’s responsive to zoo staff today, on pain meds & will soon start antibiotic therapy.”

Our hurricanes have been ugly in September and October down here recently

They are lined up like the rockets in the eastern Atlantic. But look like they will be fish storms so far

F*** this! The gator population is exploding!

Turn that monster into wallets, boots, and gator nuggets.

Make it useful instead of a burden on society.

It’s from a zoo. This is my neck of the woods and the gators we have wild in the river here are mostly little bitty ones. A big one is 5-6 feet long. Big enough to do damage/kill but not the monsters you see in the zoo.

I usually opt for width=”600”...just personal preference.

Thanks. At one point I used to be able to do it, and either HTML changed, or I lost the ability.

Sounds like your 5-6 footers would make even better wallets and gator nuggets. Lots of Cajun vids about harvesting gators using .22 rifles.

Nuggets from a 600 pounder could be a little tough.

;^)
