North Korean defector describes hellish life inside rogue regime
Growing up in North Korea, Yeonmi Park did not know of the concepts of love or friendship.
Everyone was a comrade and feelings of adoration were reserved for the rogue regimes supreme leader alone. Her parents never told her they loved her.
It was part of everyday life to see people dying of starvation on the streets and with no electricity, Parks life was ensconced in total darkness and freezing cold.
Park is just one of several hundred North Korean defectors who have escaped to the United States after she and her mother fled in 2007 when she was just 13 years old.

Of course - look at all those pictures of NK on the internet - happy people, smiling faces pretty city; obviously propaganda.
Yup, and BLM,Inc and Antifas want this. I don’t even think they are looking for Utopia. They just want no societal restrictions and think they will run free. It won’t happen.
I watched her give a speech on C-Span about 5 years ago when she was on a book tour or something. I cried when she described life in NK versus the US.

We have cut the links between child and parent, and between man and man, and between man and woman. No one dares trust a wife or a child or a friend any longer. But in the future, there will be no wives and no friends. [ ] There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother (Dear Leader). There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy.Orwell completely nailed it when it comes to these kind of regimes.
Orwell got the concepts from Marx and Engles. All of the breakdown of society in socialist states and ideologies are all outlined in Marx’s and Engles’ works. A culture of distrust is necessary in order to control the thoughts of the workers and protect them from the ever present threat of capitalist thought. It’ all in the “manual”.
What a beautiful observation.
In bourgeois society the past controls the present; in communist society, the present controls the past.Straight out of the Manifestos second chapter. The USSR put that into practice, as did everyone that followed them in that sick revolution into dystopia.
Also embodied in the Manifesto’s calls for the abolition of the family and of private property.
If you ask me which historical figure I would have aborted if I could, Karl Marx would probably be my pick.
PLUS, they have a wonderful diet plan -— there’s only ONE overweight person in the whole of North Korea -— its LEADER!
She’s so pretty. I hope she finds true peace.
It is. I would be very curious to know what she thinks of democrats pushing Marxism. I take it she would be very upset.
My thoughts as well; The ohpoorecessive regimes are in the blue states, the inner cities.
I know I saw her do a Ted talk where she proceeded to bash Trump. She’s been co-opted by the left already
WHAT? Are you serious? What the hell, what does she have, stockholm syndrome? Does she have any idea what Democrats support? Unreal.
Co-opted is right, I can just imagine the BS they told her. I’m going to write to her and ask.
She probably did so because she saw Trump schmoozing Dear Leader and not being sophisticated about the idea of saying ‘nice doggie’ while reaching for a stick, she may have thought he was really pandering and kissing butt.
