WOW!
I had some high drama getting back up here last night.
First, I had to find some white shoe polish so that I could put an assigned evacuation code on the top passenger side of my windshield, to allow me to get past the local law enforcement's road block/checkpoint.
On the way up the mountain on the highway, it was a mass exodus of all sorts of vehicles, wherein the drivers and occupants were calling it a day. I was just about the only vehicle going towards the fire, and for good reason.
The evacuation code allowed me to sail right on by the LEO checkpoint. At the next checkpoint, I gave my name and purpose for going in, to the safety officer. who then contacted a person with the area's direct controlling agency (CAL Fire or USFS) and ascending level of command, known as “Branch N” (see the CAL TOPO map for explanation) who then contacted a person at the next higher command level known as “Division XX” who gave me the OK to proceed with the caution that firefighters were setting backfires just off the road that I would be traveling on.
The whole time I'm traveling it went from dusk to pitch black out and naturally the air became rife with thick acrid smoke. I saw landscapes that looked like battlefields on Iwo Jima, and fires were burning randomly here and there, sometimes in the distance and other times right off the highway.
I got to the next checkpoint where persons in command of Branch N and Division XX were stationed. The lead vehicle was facing me and had about 6 blinding headlights facing my direction. I proceed forward but had to stop abruptly as I was totally blinded by the intense light and I was afraid that I might drive right into one of the 2 vehicles that are positioned in the roadway. I underwent a series of questions wherein I explain that I am to relieve the owner of the resort and make myself available to start the generator if the fire crews show up and to help facilitate said personnel in accessing showers and in doing their laundry. I get the OK to proceed after giving the commanders a phone number and agreeing to be around a phone between the hours of 12PM and 2PM, for the purpose of accountability and or... if they order me, to evacuate.
The active evacuation order in place, is a hard and fast rule, so for me to be allowed up here is no small feat.
A little background- There are about 40 cars still stranded on the lake bottom, left from the 8th of Sep., that have not been able to be accessed and driven off the mountain by their rightful owners. Can you imagine if you are from another state and you are out backpacking and suddenly you are ordered to get on a helicopter and leave within hours of being told to evacuate, and find yourself in an unfamiliar city on foot with no way to get at your vehicle?
Continuing- In short order, I reached the spot where the fire crew was setting the forest on fire using a backfire technique in order to clear a space around the ranger station. The scene was otherworldly as it was completely pitch black outside and a huge wall of bright orange fire was just a stone's throw from me. I spotted individual firefighters in the forest as my headlights caught their uniforms as they were sporting highly reflective safety ribbons/tape.
I explained one more time what I was doing and got the thumbs up to continue. I passed several USFS and CAL Fire vehicles, a lone fire engine, and one low boy heavy duty gooseneck trailer that likely carried a bulldozer up the mountain. Firehose were spread across the road and I asked if it was OK to drive over them and I got an affirmative from one of the firefighters. I saw that a sprinkler system was set up and draft tanks were also set up to draw water from, and had likely been filled from the ranger station's well system. There are no fire hydrants out here, which really gives one pause for thought.
I traveled on and ran into the lone caretaker at the hot springs driving around on a quad and asked him what he was up to tonight. He told me that he was busy raking pine needles away from randomly skewed boulders in the hopes that if any embers (would) got airborne and landed among the rocks, the fuel wouldn't be there to start a fire.
I wished him good luck and drove on to the resort finding about 100 brand spanking new yellow coiled fire hoses stacked up in piles and several collapsible draft tanks stockpiled out in the road in front of the resort, apparently staged a couple of days ago, for any battle with fire that might be expected to reach the resort in a few days.
Knowing that bears were around, I got busy unloading groceries from the bed of my truck, and just for safe measure strapped on my little companion, since there are also mountain lions and packs of coyotes in the immediate area. It was really spooky being the only person at the resort. I had a portion of a Caesar salad that was gifted to me, noshed on a bag of sea salt potato chips, and proceeded to put the groceries up that I had brought to feed myself for a week or so, making sure to mouse proof anything not going into the fridge. Satisfied by dinner and in the success of the trip, I decided to call it a day and hit the hay around midnight.

Q and QAnon devotees have broadened their conspiracy recently to include more standard conservative talking points.

Last week, Q pushed conspiracy theories that left-leaning militant groups known as antifa were setting fires in the Pacific Northwest. Those rumors were repeatedly debunked by local authorities and the FBI.
Mike Rothschild, a researcher of conspiracy theories and author of “The World’s Worst Conspiracies,” said that the conspiracy movement’s shift toward more on-message pro-Trump content is proof that followers are noticing that the Q brand is “becoming toxic and a magnet for bad press,” and that their messages are less likely to be believed by average people if they’re presented as part of the conspiracy theory.

You are very welcome. Today, I was able to run the power from 9AM-2PM, because I had to call the boss promptly at 9AM, and... because the phone is on a satellite system, requiring power.

The President routinely uses that line about Biden begging for forgiveness at his rallies.
