SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) A restaurant in Spartanburg County has been cited by SLED for not complying with the governors executive order requiring masks in restaurants.
SLED confirmed on Friday they have issued a citation to Ikes, a family- owned and operated business at the corner of Boundary and Archer Streets.
We previously reported that the restaurant has become known for not enforcing customers or employees to wear masks. The owner of Ikes, Neil Rodgers, had posted a sign on the restaurants front door that says his employees wouldnt be wearing masks due to religious beliefs.
Governor McMasters executive order says that all employees and customers must wear a mask while inside a restaurant, unless they are actively eating.
According to the executive order, the penalty for violation of any provision of this and prior executive orders is a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, the violator must be fined not more than one hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days.
If you are ever hungry for a great burger in a old corner bar setting, Ike's is the place to be in Spartanburg.
It would seem that the crime rate is so low in South Carolina that the government there has to create fake crimes to keep LEO’s busy.
I’ll try to remember it.
Several years ago I put in an application at SLED for IT tech job. I was maybe 50% of what they were looking for.
Amazingly enough, I made it to an interview. When I got there I expected it to be a fairly strict and structured event.
My panel consisted of several people. Technical and at least higher up investigator. After about 15 minutes, you’d think I’d worked there for years. Everyone was very cordial and polite.
At the time I was a contractor person where I am now and didn’t see it going far beyond. Anyway, that didn’t pan out at SLED but I went full time and made a lot more.
However, I think I would have liked a technical job at SLED.
“You wear a mask until you are seated” is the stupidest law ever. It’s like they are just taunting us.
As far as I know, the mask rules are simply rules, not laws. Constitutionally, to become a law, a legislative body must propose and vote. Then, if passed, send it on to the Governor for signature or veto.
In no state I’m aware of has the legislature followed the legal process. Most are just governors acting as monarchs and creating pretend law with pretend powers.
I have some acquaintances who work for SLED. For the most part they seem very professional and above board. A lot of their investigations involve IT and IT forensics. Valuable tools in fight against child predation and human trafficking. The problem they have is retaining good people. The pay is no where comparable to the private sector.
Our town has fines in place for people not wearing the virtue signal
For what they do, it is sad that the pay is comical.
I’ve been a state employee and know how it goes.
Are the fines legally initiated or did some guy just say so?
All I know is there are fines. Would they hold up in court? Who knows? But the PTB in town all wear the virtue signal in public.
If freedom loving people dont challenge them, they win. Whats next?
The university is suspending students for partying/gathering. The town is threatening to do the same to others (churches).
Churches are specifically enumerated in the First Amendment. Sadly church leaders are too scared or constitutionally ignorant to know their rights.
Government run by atheists have no business prescribing how, when or with whom we worship.
