When our kids were younger, I told them I had a dream that when they grew up and had children of their own we would gather together and on balmy summer nights we would watch the children chase fire flies. As the fragrance from the mimosa flowers wafts on the breeze, the glow of little lights all over the fields gives a ethereal quality as the kids run out of energy and sit beside us. The deep calm of the evening settles around us.
Fire flies represent hope to me. They shine their light looking for love, then another light responds with their own light. Sometimes our children had their hearts broken. In our hearts we held onto hope; the promises of God to keep the solidarity of families. We kept the light of love always burning brightly and we knew our children would find the way to fly away back home.
Today the dream has changed into a survival mode since these times are full of violence. The Bible talks of the end of the age, how men will be scoffers and there will be earthquakes, famine, wars but the end of this age is not yet. Then the Lord catches His children up in the air to be with Him in heaven, and the world finds itself looking for answers and men cease to know God and install a false god. Then the Lord returns not for salvation but for judgment.
Until those things come to pass, we have a family plan for when the violence becomes too threatening. Food shortages will cause even more looting. The cities will run out of food, the country will be the next target as people look to steal resources.
Our home will be the safe place that we can live in. We have prepared for food shortages and my husband and son have a plan to protect and secure our borders. I have made rooms where each one will have a space that is designed for their comfort and a quiet place where individual reflections and time with God can be appreciated.
Then in the morning as we meet for a hearty country breakfast we share the stories of our times apart We read from the bible and brake bread together as we celebrate the Lord's Supper. We discuss world events, and how we each can add to our family bond of unity and building up our secure dwelling as we await the catching away into the real and true utopia. When we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanses us from all sin.
During a storm, butterflies will take shelter behind a tree, they hang upside down and fold their colorful fragile wings together. I pray that each of you has a place where you can be safe in the midst of the storms, natural and man-made, of this present and future time. God has the brightest light of love, He was willing to leave His heavenly home. He placed Himself in the body of a willing young girl who carried Him as His mother; He arrived via a mother , just like each of us, to give full and complete access and restoration to His father through His perfect sacrifice and settlement of our debts.
A shame some once called fireflies a common product of summer. In today’s world they are seldom seen. Are they missed? Yes, by some. We continue to search, faithful that one day we shall find them in quantity once again.
Blessings...
Beautiful. Thank you.
Welcome to our world. You’ll find many different subjects being discussed here. Of course, there is ALWAYS politics.
However, there is a group who discuss cooking, threads for science, astronomy, archeology, a prayer circle for our nation/POTUS. Should you need any help, all you need do is ask. Seeing that you’ve learned to post beginning a thread, you could more than likely teach others before asking to be taught yourself. :-)
The aroma of Mimosa, the key unlocking the mystery found in the movie “The Uninvited” of years ago (1944/starring Ray Miland)
You’ve an eloquent style in writing. And your choice of subjects (all dear to this heart).
Sharing this with you in the hope that you might find some inspiration in continuing to inspire others.

Again, welcome and please accept apologies for the delay in doing so!
PING!
How about a welcome?
One of the glories of rural life is the firefly. When we first moved to Georgia, we rented the 2nd floor of a large farmhouse overlooking a valley where the neighbor’s horse grazed.
One starry July night we witnessed a grove of 3 or 4 large trees filled with dozens of fireflies blinking on and off. It was as if God had created a huge Christmas tree for us to watch.
Praise be to God. And Thanksgiving to Him for all our Earthly blessings — the little things we fail to notice right in front of our eyes.
Been reading Mrs. Warriors grace-filled bio for some weeks now. This is another lovely installment. And yes, you and she do seem to have kindred spirits, V K Lee!
Thank you for your post. I echo VKLees invitation to the places on FR that offer us a place of refuge and a fruitful battlefield.
