Illinois teen Kyle Rittenhouse charged in fatal shooting of two Kenosha protesters

A 17-year-old Illinois man has been charged in the shooting death of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, late Tuesday, according to a report.

Kyle Rittenhouse has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Molly Beck posted on Twitter Wednesday.

He was part of the group of armed men at the scene. We have been identifying them as a local militia group. Rittenhouse hails from Antioch, Illinois — about 12 miles away across state lines.

But are my intentions still as honorable?

Yes. To think otherwise is to believe that the intentions of our Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen, along with law enforcement officials working outside of their own neighborhood are not as honorable as they would be if they were taking action in their own neighborhood.

Do you really think what the young men and women of our military are doing overseas is less honorable than what they would or could be doing here at home?

But you might cross international borders to travel to a war zone with an M4.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic at hand.

I don't know if you are a little slow today, or you are just playing rhetorical games. In case it is the former, you wrote:

"You don’t cross a state line to travel to a riot zone with an AR-15 when you’re 17 years old."

Which surely suggests that you think that a 17 year old is too young to be traveling anywhere to a "riot zone" or some other dangerous place.

But that opinion of yours is not what our nation holds as a general principle. We send 17 year olds across the world to war zones to fight against determined enemies.

So presumably you are against 17 year olds serving in the military. How old do you think you should be before you are old enough to defend our nation?

One's legal rights don't require that you stay home. If you are attacked by a mob, and in reasonable fear for your life, which seems to be the case here, then the use of deadly force is justified.

The actor Hugh O’Brian was famous for being the youngest man to ever be a Marine drill instructor. He became a DI in 1942 when he was just 17 years old. He didn’t just follow orders, he gave them. And his orders were followed, too, by other tough men.

Audie Murphy was just 16 when he enlisted in the Army in 1942. He lied about his age. No one in their right mind would ever say he was snot nosed kid.

It is beyond ridiculous to hear today’s pampered azzholes try to rationalize every lame excuse for our current generation’s collective laziness and enstupidation. There is no doubt our forefathers were made of sterner stuff. Freedom isn’t free.

I lived in Illinois, just across the border. just keep my stuff in Wisconsin because that is where I hunted. There were no ranges to practice in my area and I knew too many stories of gun confiscations. Cops shot two pure bred expensive dogs in a townhouse, they were there looking for a former tenant. Owner was furious started yelling at the cops, so they confiscated his very expensive guns. He sued and won including the cost of the guns because they “misplaced them.”

Even if the parents where the gun owners, they let a minor posses the gun, I believe there will be an investigation. However Lake County is not Cook County so they may decline to get involved.

Same here ... I was in Great Lakes boot camp at 17. They called me a Navy man as well. I was in Vietnam soon after. I live in Arizona but I am looking at Calif out my window 5 miles away. We have rallies in the Calif border town 30 miles away. The town is a 2nd amendment sanctuary. When BLM showed up in our county seat 70 miles away ... several of us ... wanting to show what "big boys" we are ... according to some idio ... Freeper ... we went up ARMED to protect the businesses there.

In my almost 20 years on FR ... I don't believe I have ever seen so many limpwristed pansy DU rejects on the FR site at one time

A Marine serving overseas - under government orders - is very different from a 17-year-old who decides on his own to grab a rifle, then go to some other town.

As I noted earlier, I’m making no comment on whether or not the young man was correct. And I know the militia is all of us.

But I am commenting on what a jury or a DA might infer. I don’t think the average juror would equate that young man with a serving Marine. But who knows? Maybe I’m wrong.

Lol! True that!

I’m talking about our lovely media who pick and choose what to call teenagers these days according to the situation. If it’s a lefty antifa loser getting pummeled, he’s a child. If it’s a teen shooting his way out of a bad situation, he’s FIRST a conservative THEN a man.

But it’s OK for “peaceful protesters” to cross state lines with incendiary devices, guns and whatnot to come and threaten your neighborhood? Wake up

He had also attended a military academy for high school. Big difference.
Murphy was 19 when he earned the Medal of Honor.
The men of WWII are a far cry from the spoiled brats of today. And we are talking about today’s KIDS.

Ah, the classic straw man argument. I never said that, and neither did anyone else.

Those “peaceful protesters” are evil. And their intentions are evil. I’m sure you will agree with that.

But that 17-year-old kid is not evil. And neither were his intentions. Again, I’m sure you will agree with that. My argument instead focused on how jury might view those intentions.

I have a general problem with the fundamental inconsistency in our laws that establishes different age standards for things that ought to be consistent. There’s something ludicrous about soldiers who are too young to vote, smoke legally, or buy alcoholic beverages.

If some black motorist is abused by the police in your town, are you going to be OK with a brigade of Black Panthers showing up to exercise their rights?

In our town the Black Panthers wouldn't need to show up, and if they did they are welcome to exercise their rights, just like the rest of us. That's what "rights" means.

Is that right hotshot? I assume you’re out there on the front lines holding a rifle? Or do you just talk big.

I’d be curious to know if the owners of the property this kid was assigned to protect even knew anything about it. Don’t you think that would make a huge difference in the facts of this case?

I honestly think this kid should be commended — but he was clearly over his head in a bad situation. I think the average Freeper posting about this story has put a lot more thought into it than he ever did.

My experience with the town is pretty old; I knew several people from the town through a state-wide organization. Generally, there was a level of quirkiness among the people I know that it seemed like Antioch was the ultimate small town full of quirky people.

But, like I said, this was a while ago. As the town got bigger, the folks I knew became a smaller part of the population and the town probably went more upscale and larger.
