Elon Musks brain-machine interface company, Neuralink, has an event scheduled for later this week to update the public on its progress since last years presentation. While the agenda is speculative for the most part, one expectation is a live demonstration of neuron activity.
Will show neurons firing in real-time on August 28th. The matrix in the matrix, Musk tweeted at the end of July.
He also revealed a few other clues about the early fall announcement at the beginning of the year. Wait until you see the next version vs what was presented last year. Its *awesome*, he wrote in February. The profound impact of high bandwidth, high precision neural interfaces is underappreciated. Neuralink may have this in a human as soon as this year. Just needs to be unequivocally better than Utah Array, which is already in some humans & has severe drawbacks.
As its name implies, the roles of neuron activities are very important to Neuralinks technology. The ventures long-term goal of obtaining human symbiosis with artificial intelligence (AI) begins by connecting electrodes throughout the brain and reading its neuron signals en masse.

here's a picture of the prototype i obtained from a reliable source:
Total recall in the making.
Does this mean I could experience making love to the most beautiful woman in the world through a USB port to the brain?
Even if it’s unveiling goes like the unveiling of his pickup truck, it will be a great success.
Doubt it would interface well in an adult brain. The facts gap between the young and old will be immeasurable but what will be the effect on critical thinking. The ability to make decisions wisely with limited information will be diminished. Google or whomever replaces them will be able to curate the mass memory of the people. There are some massive pitfalls possible with this tech if raw data can just electronically pass into the brain and be assimilated bypassing the senses. Autodidacts would rule the world even more than they do today.
There are orders of magnitude bigger implications as compared to the industrial revolution effects on society as well on the good side. No more schools needed thus bypassing the indoctrination centers. Media would fold. Interpersonal communication would be much much faster. The speed of decision making would increase exponentially. Essentially life would shift into a higher gear.
Elon Musk has brought Science Fiction to science fact with many of his projects. Who could have expected a 7 second 1/4 mile electric car you can pick up the kids in after picking up groceries in our lifetimes.
It would behoove us to examine the pitfalls the great thinkers of SciFi have outlined when examining the possibility of a neural interface and to avoid the obvious punji traps.
