CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Protesters returned to the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, to demonstrate for a second night as GOP officials gathered in the city for the Republican National Convention.
Police used bicycles to block protesters Saturday night from gathering close to the Charlotte Convention Center, the site of the convention. The Secret Service set up a perimeter, news outlets reported.
The demonstrators' chants included, "No RNC in CLT” and “Black Lives Matter.”
Several people were arrested Friday, and at least one person was arrested Saturday. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police tweeted that a protester armed with a gun was arrested, and earlier stated that pepper spray was used to stop another protester armed with a pole “from advancing on officers.”
Friday night, a group of about 60 demonstrators left a park and began a march throughout uptown Charlotte, authorities said.
Police said the group briefly trespassed onto light rail tracks, temporarily disrupting service. Demonstrators later impeded traffic by surrounding a vehicle that was attempting to travel through an intersection, police said. William Gissentaner was arrested and charged with impeding traffic, disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer, police said.

The RNC needs to point out that there were no rowdy republicans protesting at the DNC convention
Protests are okay. When the criminal activities and life-threatening violence starts, overwhelming force (including the use of deadly force) should rain down on these leftist insurrectionists. Prosecute survivors to the full extent of the law; no plea-bargaining.
A very simple trick is just to arrest the disupting lefties and toss them in jail until the convention is over.... reduces the stress on law enforcement.
Common sense is so uncommon.

This same crowd tried to disrupt the Democrat convention in 2000 by starting a riot at Staples Center while marching another column to Parker Center.
LAPD corralled the ones at Staples and drove them under the freeway (which had wisely been fenced off prior) and broke up and scattered the supporting column.
It was a thing of beauty.

Protests are ok with me. They did NOT work well for the lefties in 1968 and they will work to Trump’s advantage this time. People are sick to death of the soy-boy toddler tantrums.
