TECH PING? I have been fighting with MS OUTLOOK and cannot get my contacts to import from OUTLOOK 365 to OUTLOOK 2019 Staples told me tough luck it is a MS problem, Microsoft keeps ingnoring me.
Last year I had a bad computer crash. I had to run to Staples and port everything over to one of their instock HPs (what a dog!) and they told me that the 365 version of office would be a better bet at 99 dollars a year since I wassnt planning to keep the computer
Well I had to keep the compututer so I had to purchase another year.
And I finally realized that everythign is in the MS cloud somehwere instead of safely on my computer.
The dog HP started to die a few weeks ago, so I bought an ACER Aspire, have had good luck with them, and brought it to staples to have everything moved over.
They told me my Trend micro was no good and that it didnt have a firewall, Which is untrue, and that they could not guarantee not infecting the new computer unless it had the Macafee fire wall, so I bought it, and thene instead of just importing everything for 70 bucks I had to buy their special import service, or else things might somehow go wrong.
It was 600 dollars by the time I left, including I did buy a local back up too.
However my contacts were not imported and when I talked to Staples they said they would try but it really is a Microsoft problem and nobody uses Outlook anyhow....
Microsoft is not answering cooperating and I am stuck.
What next??
Evidently the contacts are up in 360 ville and I cannot access them to get them into my new computer??

Have you tried exporting to a csv file and then importing from the csv file. Or to and from excel?
p

What!? No way /s
Should be able to export as PST file and then import PST. Can also be done as CSV (comma separated values)

Office 365: Export/Import Outlook Data Files
I like Evolution email client myself. Has calendar, contacts, notes, tasks
Just call up the NSA. They have a copy of all your contacts. Then file an FOIA request and the contacts will be sent to you in 5-7 years.
Your contacts, along with you other mailbox content, should sync to Outlook when you add your email account to Outlook.
It will save on your downloads and you can then open Outlook 2019 and import them.
Your Contacts list can be released to you upon your receiving the Gates COVID19 vaccination. The chip injected into your bloodstream will alert your computer that it’s now authorized to download your list from the cloud. Be sure to have your CPU Bluetooth on.
Most don’t know this, but you’ll also now be able to vote via your implanted chip...without leaving your house! Unfortunately, you’ll only be able to vote straight-ticket Democrat.
(P.S. I hate Outlook.)

This is a good approach; exporting to a neutral format like CSV. Another possible neutral format specific to email addresses is vCard format (.vcf).
just finished with the microsoft tech
The contacts file is gone evidently not backed up when the transfer took place and evidently disappears from the original source.
The software is not smart enough to produce the backups it needs.
I am done.

Switch to Linux. It won’t help recover your contact list, but you’ll never have to deal with M$ again. Plus, things just work on Linux, and it doesn’t have the same problems with viruses, and it’s faster, and it uses less memory, and the software is cheaper.. and.. and.. and...
Wait! Don’t give up yet. Do you (and you ALWAYS SHOULD) have the original system and original disk? If you don’t - call Staples and get it. It’s yours, you paid for it.
Once you have the original disk - the rest is easier. Microsoft Outlook, by default, stores your PST and OST files down in the AppData section of a user where people normally don’t look. You can copy that off to a USB stick, copy to the new system and in Outlook click File->Open->open Outlook Data File
One of these days, you will accept the advice many FReepers have given you over the years: dump Microsoft, and get a Mac or Linux machine.
I was talking to a nice MS bot a few days ago and authenticated a fresh XP install. She was very patient with me, too.
there is no disk. it was a download.
XP? Well Im sticking with Windows 3.1 and Mac system 7.
