Postal Service warns 46 states their voters could be disenfranchised by delayed mail-in ballots

Anticipating an avalanche of absentee ballots, the U.S. Postal Service recently sent detailed letters to 46 states and the District of Columbia warning that it cannot guarantee all ballots cast by mail for the November election will arrive in time to be counted - adding another layer of uncertainty ahead of the high-stakes presidential contest.

Washington state was not among them.

The letters sketch a grim possibility for the tens of millions of Americans eligible for a mail-in ballot this fall: Even if people follow all of their state’s election rules, the pace of Postal Service delivery may disqualify their votes.

The Postal Service’s warnings of potential disenfranchisement came as the agency undergoes a sweeping organizational and policy overhaul amid dire financial conditions. Cost-cutting moves have already delayed mail delivery by as much as a week in some places, and a new decision to decommission 10 percent of the Postal Service’s sorting machines sparked widespread concern the slowdowns will only worsen. Rank-and-file postal workers say the move is ill-timed and could sharply diminish the speedy processing of flat mail, including letters and ballots.

The ballot warnings, issued at the end of July from Thomas J. Marshall, general counsel and executive vice president of the Postal Service, and obtained through a records request by The Washington Post, were planned before the appointment of Louis DeJoy, a former logistics executive and ally of President Trump, as postmaster general in early summer. They go beyond the traditional coordination between the Postal Service and election officials, drafted as fears surrounding the coronavirus pandemic triggered an unprecedented and sudden shift to mail-in voting.

Agree. I don’t see anything wrong with early voting like
most states have had in the past. Go to a voting site, sign
in, and vote on a machine like always. Use throw away glove
and move on down the line. 10 days of early voting should be
sufficient.

I’ve voted in city parks where they have buildings available
and some times in malls.

The Democrats have insiders in the USPS. This has been planned. Postal workers are reporting that for no reason OCR systems are being removed around the country.

I know that for at least 16 years the USPS has been keeping track of physical mail traffic in ways that would surprise people. So why would someone want to muck up the OCR systems? IMO so the system starts to choke and the ballots are pulled out to be physically reviewed by the bad guys. That way the can do whatever they want on ballots coming and going. Or, they could route them from one location to another that they control.

Lot’s of evil shit going on.

You don’t have to imagine it. Watch the ten o’clock news.

The Democrats have already made it impossible to have a valid election. See tag line.

I believe every voter should send his vote to the appropriate elections commissioner via certified mail, return receipt requested.

I had a conversation with a person who is a conservative and normally aware of current events who told me that Trump admitted that his cuts to the postal service would impact mail in voters. I had to tell her that wherever she heard that id was baloney because neither Trump or any other President holds the power of the purse so would not be able to cut funding to the postal service.

Wait, why would they be doing this? Shouldn't we be getting MORE of these, and using fewer of the flesh-n-blood idiots?

And in the very fine print of sub, sub, subsection XYZ is the proviso that DemoRATs get to use all the bags full of ballots they have stashed away in the car trunks, so that any election, local, state, national, where the Republican is not light years ahead of the DemoRAT, the ALL TRUNK VOTES MATTER clause comes into play and is enacted ‘for the children.’

If you can go to the post office, you can go to a polling place.
