HOUSTON – A 34-year-old resident of Houston is in custody for charges relating to sexual exploitation of a child, otherwise known as producing child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick.

A federal grand jury returned the indictment against Richard Reyes Trigo today for sexual exploitation of children as well as distribution and possession of child pornography. He is expected to make an appearance on the indictment in the near future.

He was originally charged by criminal complaint following suspicion he actively engaged in the sexual exploitation of a minor female under the age of two. He was taken into federal custody July 15 and made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Bray, at which time he was ordered detained pending further criminal proceedings.

The charges allege Trigo engaged in conversations via a social media forum that individuals who have a sexual interest in children allegedly frequent. Trigo saw a post that contained terms commonly associated with the sexual exploitation of children and responded, according to the charges. During the course of the chats, Trigo allegedly claimed he was sexually active with a minor female and claimed he performed sexual acts on her. Trigo later sent four images he claimed were of the minor, some of which focused on her vagina, according to the charges.

If convicted of producing child pornography, Trigo faces a minimum of 15 and up to 30 years in federal prison, while the distribution and possession charges carry additional penalties up to 20 and 10 years, respectively. Each charge also carries a possible $250,000 maximum fine.

The FBI conducted the investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sherri Zack and Sherin Daniel are prosecuting the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood(PSC), a nationwide initiative the Department of Justice (DOJ) launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section leads PSC, which marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and identifies and rescues victims. For more information about PSC, please visit DOJ’s PSC page. For more information about internet safety education, please visit the resources tab on that page.

An indictment is a formal accusation of criminal conduct, not evidence.
A defendant is presumed innocent unless convicted through due process of law.

When to catch a predator was all the rave I was actually angry about it. I thought suckers were being entrapped who otherwise would never do this stuff.

I’ve never been more wrong about something. The follow-up shows years later showed them committing the same offences right out of prison or even probation.

Their rap sheets before the incident were horrible to look at.

I was naive because I know nothing of how a child predator thinks. Thank God.

But I know now that they all belong in prison for the rest of their lives

Agree with all you wrote. There’s no way for a normal person to “understand” what’s going on in the mind of a pervert who preys on kids. We have nothing to base our understanding upon.

I absolutely did not believe the issue of child predation was even a a fraction of what it actually is. I did wonder at why a child left to pet a puppy while mom payed for a corn dog was like leaving a handbag stuffed with hundreds of dollars on display. I kept thinking that this child snatching craze was something else - impossible to adopt etc. Nooooooo. Child rape. No - I really couldn’t conceive of that. *smh*

It is probably a hate crime to ask if a resident is the same thing as a citizen.

Agreed.

And since Trump is in office and it seems like more rings are being busted up...and the explosion of muzzies in western europe...I am ASTOUNDED at how rampant something so sick is!!!!

And the sick things some on the left have supposedly done to and with them...it crushes my heart.

A sobering moment always when i think about it

You are such a sweet man.

NAW. Those pedophilic b@$t@rds need a bit o’ the punishment endured by William Wallace...

https://www.scotsman.com/whats-on/arts-and-entertainment/day-1305-william-wallace-hanged-drawn-and-quartered-1468919

“Sentenced to death without a trial in London, Wallace was given an excruciating death by his English captors for repeatedly refusing to recognise England’s sovereignty on 23 August 1305.

He was drawn behind horses for 5 miles or so, then hanged, stretched, disembowelled, castrated, his heart, lungs and organs torn out before him and then he was finally beheaded and quartered.”

But did he live? :)

That “cruel and unusual punishment” thingy is an important part of our constitution.

What we would like to happen is exactly why that is in the constitution.

Because it tends to spread to other lesser crimes and then to many..like a communist government

“conversations via a social media forum that individuals who have a sexual interest in children allegedly frequent”

Which social media platform, I wonder, and why is it allowed to exist? (Honey trap?)

No. William Wallace did not live; but you know that already.

Yes. The Eighth Amendment to our US Constitution does state, “nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

Although I may agree that judgement should not be in disproportion to the crime one committed and has been convicted of, ruthless, sexual crimes against children is indeed a MOST perverse offense that demands proportional, ruthless harshness.

Therefore, I stand by my previous post.

I must completely disagree.

It didn’t say “let the punishment meet the crime”

You explained a VERY CRUEL way to punish someone.

Unbelievably cruel.

The Founding Fathers would frown greatly on it.

Have a good night

Not at all my explanation of punishment as I merely quoted what has been recorded and purported to have been done to William Wallace.

Actually, I suggested “a bit o’ the punishment endured by William Wallace.”

I pray that evil incarnates such as pedophiles are running with fear of “The Storm” ‘bout to be unleashed upon them. If the unleashing doesn’t happen in this life, it will happen when they enter the “firey gates of h&ll.”

I do hope you have a good night as well, sweet man.
