The painful unwinding of the 2020 college football season is upon us.
So many significant events for the sport have been squeezed into the last 72 hours that it feels like the rat-a-tat lyrics to the old REM song, Its the end of the world. Except no one feels fine.
The most visceral news came with UConn football canceling the 2020 season on Wednesday morning, the first Division I program to do so. Then there are the star defections Virginia Techs Caleb Farley, Minnesotas Rashod Bateman and the expectation that Penn States Micah Parsons will join them soon. It continued with an internal investigation at Colorado State for its handling of COVID-19, a Stadium report that three-quarters of Idaho players dont want to play and three Big Ten schools with significant enough breakouts and contact tracing that theyve paused workouts.

UConn canceling is an act of mercy to its beleaguered fans. Their record the past 3 seasons was 6-30.
The NCAA announced athletes who sit out will retain their scholarships and schools cannot force students to sign a COVID19 waiver. So one player who dies or has serious complications the family can sue for a big payout from the school.
I am so tired of people begging NOT to work for what they get....teachers and professional athletes and now college athletes...
go indulge yourself....
NCAA football will not be missed.
Can the players get jobs at McDonald’s?
Even if things (Chinese flu wise) were back to normal, BLM would ruin the year.

College football season won’t last as long as John Lewis funeral.
The point of college is drinking, smoking weed, and sex.
Oh, and I guess classes.
All football will be cancelled pro and college.................

I think some conferences will have games: SEC and ACC especially. Big Ten and Pac 12 maybe. All in-conference only.
UConn had already committed football suicide by leaving the American Athletic Conference for the current Big East for the benefit of the basketball program. Since the Big East is not a football conference that left them to twist in the wind as an independent.
Pratt and Whitney Stadium is gonna be a black hole for Connecticut taxpayers.
“Except no one feels fine.”
Wrong. So far as the outlook for “major” college sports goes, I feel fine. It’s a corrupt mess that needs a major financial haircut and decoupling from the educational mission of universities. Let the NFL and NBA run their own farm teams.
Look on the bright side, think of all the injuries avoided.
espn’s cash spewing prostitute and the nfl’s free farm system is in danger?
good. let it die. then maybe it can be reborn as what it’s supposed to be in the first place; college athletics for the sake of amateur competition.
You should leave college 25 pounds heavier from bloating due to impaired liver function, know how to make an IBD(improvised bong device), and have Herpes and HPV.
