I agree with you. One major team or school has a breakout they will cancel the season. How can you have a season where teams will basically be canceling at minimum 2 games with a positive test?

I think you may be right. I am in the horse world. Almost every big event is cancelled or postponed. They actually have cancelled huge shows in progress because someone tested positive. Add in public officials scheduling events in government owned facilities and then say “no” at the last moment and you have a huge mess. This is another industry that may never recover.
