What a terrifying way to go.
To think of those people scrambling to get through the hatches in a sinking craft.

My husband was a crew chief of an amtrac....says it probably threw a track. Prayers for these missing men and their families.

A great tragedy for several families, for the Marines, and for the USA. Very sad.

That's an insult.

My late brother-in-law told me stories about Navy recruit training in '69.He told me that they had water training which is something we didn't have in the Army.He said that some of the recruits couldn't swim and were afraid of the water...he went on to say that recruits who failed to enter the pool when ordered were pushed in by the Petty Officers.
IIRC Marines go through similar training. One would think that Sailors and Marines were skilled in water emergencies or else they might have been separated.
It's certainly desperately sad to hear about this incident!

Every day, all day and night there are Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen strapping on or in and putting their lives at risk quietly while the rest of us fret about something or other, usually inconsequential, relatively speaking.
Thank you for your selfless service.
They pause for a moment, maybe wipe a tear, then resume the risky business of standing watch over their nation.
Lest we forget.
