I often catch myself pondering exactly what it is that keeps our country together. What do we hold in common? What do we share? The word "republic" comes from the Latin res publica — literally "public thing." What is the single "thing" that is our public, political self? What binds us? Our national motto is E pluribus unum — out of many, one. What is this "one"? ....
I see so much anger around me — at the grocery store, while driving, on television, online. I feel so much of it myself: ... Rage that our reality-show-conman president would rather publicize absurd conspiracy theories, spread civic poison throughout the nation, and undermine confidence in our capacity to hold free and fair elections than fulfill the most elemental duties of his office. Rage that, although this president is down in the polls, two out of every five Americans continue to approve of how he's doing his job.
Who are these people? What do I share with them? Aristotle suggests that at its best, citizenship can be a form of friendship. But America is nowhere near its best right now. These people may be my fellow citizens, but they aren't my friends. Sometimes they feel like my enemies....

Face it. It already has split up. What are the commonly held principles and values to form a unifying consensus? IMHO it was Roe v Wade that drove the nail that politically and culturally spintered America and has led to permanent divisions.
If we have a civil conflict, it will be extremely bad. It won’t be regional this time. This is a purely ideological disagreement. People of all races, stripes, backgrounds, religions (or lack thereof) are going to go after each other. Tried to explain this to students. We are SO divided it will be neighbor on neighbor. We have no religious foundation to even give us a chance to form a cohesive nation. You will never know who the enemy is until (s)he is right next to you. This has all been coming for a long time.

The swamp is working hard to divide this country to divide and conquer.
In the old days our differences were not so significant because most of government happened at the state and local level. Now everything is federalized. That’s a problem.
Roe v Wade, Vietnam, and Communist influences in our colleges and universities.
How has it come to this? The right feels like it's fighting for its very life against a left that's waging a scorched-earth campaign against it. As far as the right is concerned, progressives don't just want to win. They want to grind conservatives into the dust, humiliate them, force them to jump through public hoops, and confess their sins before the world. And the list of sins grows ever longer — on race, on religion, on sex, on gender. The goalposts always shift further. Each triumph for the left is followed by the opening of another front in a rolling cultural revolution. The right feels desperate — and understands every one of its own moves as an equal and opposite reaction to a prior offensive on the part of its political and cultural antagonists.
He is TOTALLY correct about the leftists not wanting just to win an election. Their aim is to destroy us. It is going to end up being a total war, genocide. When it is toward the end, or nearly over, some nation that hates us (probably China) will come in and take over and put a stop to all of it. Anyone who THOUGHT they were going to be in control is in for a rude awakening.

I am very conservative and have studied people for YEARS. There is absolute rage everywhere. If one can not see that, one has completely blinded himself/herself.

Not everyone who recognizes the anger is projecting but when you see it “everywhere “ then there’s a problem, just like the “everyone is wrong but me” crowd.

Following Trump's re-election the America/American-hating Democrat/Left Party and its followers will double-down on their sffort to keep America divided and to keep Americans at each others throats until the America/American-hating Democrat/Left Party regains control (perhaps as soon as 2024) at which time America will be "reunited" under the Democrat/Left's vision of a socialist utopia.
