If we have a civil conflict, it will be extremely bad. It won’t be regional this time. This is a purely ideological disagreement. People of all races, stripes, backgrounds, religions (or lack thereof) are going to go after each other. Tried to explain this to students. We are SO divided it will be neighbor on neighbor. We have no religious foundation to even give us a chance to form a cohesive nation. You will never know who the enemy is until (s)he is right next to you. This has all been coming for a long time.
Think about the movie “The Purge”....except without the weapons or time restrictions.
All it would take is the power going out for a few days.
People will start dropping like flies if the cameras didn’t work.
Agreed, alas you are correct.
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
John Adams (a Founding Father of our Republic and second president of USA)
I offer a different perspective:
The next physical confrontation will be rural vs. urban. It has already been going on for decades ... think Red Areas vs. Blue Areas at the county level for a start.
You are correct that in the suburbs, the fighting will be the worst as suburbia is the middle-ground and consists of components of both groups: those that want the benefits of the urban environment without the mess of the urban politics.
Those are the people that will ultimately have to choose sides, and I already know which side I will take. Those that have prepared will escape the fighting and fall-back to a more-defendable position.
Everything else will be laid to waste.
