Are you physically close to any neighbors?
Is the adapter not being recognized by Windows or are you losing Internet only? Can you print wirelessly when your Internet is lost?
USB WiFi adapters should be used on the front of your computer and not the back. They are low power and stuck in no mans land.

the whole problem lies with the notorious Win 10 updates that happen almost monthly, restore to an earlier time when you bought it. Then stop the updates. period.

Sometimes the only way around it is to hard reset your modem...u plug it for 30 seconds and start fresh.

How far is the computer from the router?

Unplug the modem for 30 seconds or so. That works for me often.

Plug an ethernet cable into your PC, and the other end into your router. Then turn off your wireless.

Do you have a cellphone with Hotspot capabilities? If you do try that.

Clear your DNS cache and reset your TCP/IP stack. If it’s affecting your PC only, it’s possible one of those two issues. And reset your browser to it’s default settings, to clean your temp file folder.

So you know you can print wirelessly when you cant reach the Internet?
Also, how close are you to your neighbors? Are you in an apartment building?

“restore to an earlier time when you bought it. Then stop the updates. period”.
This kneejerk response is typical of the uninformed. The issue is you very often get what you pay for. Tech changes happen at a breakneck pace. Tech is obsoleted rather quickly.
If you purchase an old system without a built-in wifi adapter (how old is a system that was built without a wifi adapter?) and then purchase an old tech single-band wifi adapter you are just asking for trouble.
The problem isn’t Win10, it is a non-tech savvy buyer who is being a cheapskate to his own detriment.
I have owned PC’S since the early 90’s (in those days I built my own) and have not once, ever, had a problem with any Windows update.

This kneejerk response is typical of the uninformed. My knee jerk spasms are of no concern to anybody and I don't even have a uniform.
