An outback Australia watering hole has barred the big birds from the premises following a series of flaps, according to reports.

...But as they grew older, they began climbing the steps into the pub and wreaking more havoc than any over-served patron by stealing customers’ food, drinks and car keys — and relieving themselves inside. The solution was to erect ropes in front of the joint’s doors, along with signs reading, “Emus have been banned from this establishment for bad behaviour. Please let yourself in through the emu barrier and then reconnect please!”

I thought sea gulls stealing my crackers while dining on Daytona Beach pier was bad enough

Where’s Doug?

Isn’t he like the emu wrangler or something?

If you read the article, it sounds like they might have been banned for crapping all over the place, at least as much as for mooching food. Terrible hygiene in a place where food and drink are served.

Well, to be fair, the emu did say to put it on his bill

I wondered what happed to this guy:

Haven't seen him since the 1970's on Johnny Carson, but good to hear he's still pissing people off.

Were these ‘pet’ emus, or just the local wildlife that happened to wander by? Seems a good idea to have big birds kept in a pen with rail access, not let them freeroam.

Yeah, and chickens are free-range in Key West. Look at any resort cam and you’re bound to see them strutting up the sidewalks.

chickens walking around your feet in the open air bars and restaurants and outside 4 Star hotels kinda caught me off guard

Jimmy Buffett lifestyle. What my brother-in-law aspires to. I gave him a Parrothead Christmas last year to go with the hammock and straw hat he already has.
