Not sure what the mechanism is, but Fat peoples do very very poorly in a sudden calorie deficit.
The world record for fasting does belong to a fat guy, something over a year with only electrolytes and vitamins, but he was under medical supervision the entire time.
In theory fat peoples can live a very long time without eating anything. Figure 3,000 calories per pound of fat. That’s the theory. In reality it doesn’t work so great. Better start fasting now ;)
