Due to a confusion with house numbers, about once a month my mail gets misdirected. Long story. A friend recently told me about USPS Informed Delivery. Once you sign up (its free) you'll receive a daily email with pictures of all the mail youre supposed to be getting.
So at least now I now what mail to expect. And if its not in my mailbox, I know that it has been misdirected.
This Informed Delivery thing a nice service. So I thought some of my fellow Freepers might be interested in it.
Heres the link to sign up for Informed Delivery:

It’s OK. It’s often off by a day. Not sure why. But about once a month there’s something in the picture that doesn’t show up that day, but does the next.
Interesting.
I have it and its awesome. This is one thing the USPS has done right!
It might be a help in sorting out the fraud in vote by mail.
The USPS apparently takes pics of mail going through machines at multiple locations along the way.
So now we know the government is taking pictures of all the mail we get.
It’s a great free service.

Yes. Since its the government, I half-expected their emails to freeze my computer, or something like that. But so far, so good.
Been on it for a while. It is unreliable. Typical government stuff. Misses mail and packages. Digest goes out at diff times. Not good.
Note that all folding money is serialized.
Pretty easy to start tracking those bills at all transactions.
I have been using it for several months and LUV it.
Some catalogs, post-card type ads, etc., don’t scan, but most letters do.
It also notifies of packages being tracked for USPS delivery.

Thanks for mentioning that. I guess I had better not get too complacent with it.
It is probably works quite well for cities but rural where the chain of hand offs causes problems. I called about a delivery and the PO person said it is still setting on the dock as no one picked it up. Kinda spooky that they have a picture of piece of mail.
I do get the daily informed mail message and it is quite helpful. If you don’t get something that was supposed to be delivered you can click on the check mark next to the item shown in the local mail page.
Our mail gets misdelivered at least once a month due to carelessness. I always report it and get told it was a substitute who delivered the mail on that day. A few times when we didn’t get mail, the carrier puts a not saying no mail today. Sounds a little sarcastic but whatever.....
Is it for everyone at that address? Or is it resident specific?
I hate our post office hub!!!
They had scanned my package in Richmond Va, then sent it BACK to Massachusetts, instead of sending it on to me, 1 hour away.
Monkeys playing with a scanner and keyboard could do a better job.
