NY Quarantine: I'm traveling from a prohibited state to the Adirondacks in 2 Weeks. Is there enforcement?

I go to a camp by Saranac Lake every year. Make the 9 hour drive from Maryland to the camp. With Cuomo's latest Order, my state is now restricted. Anyone in upstate New York see any enforcement of Cuomo's Executive Order? Half my family has bailed out of our family vacation, while I'm still holding out hope.

Everybody from New Jersey and his cousin too are already up here in Essex County. Thus far no deaths, only 70 cases. The deer flies here kill the coronite viruses plus the altitude, ain’t enuf oxygen for them critters to survive, plus the altitude UV Will zap em too.

In NJ it is a voluntary quarantine. There is no enforcement that I’m aware of.

I'm envious...Saranac lake is beautiful...as is all of the Adirondecks...

people wonder why folks stay in NYS...its because most of it is absolutely beautiful...

if I didn't have adult children here in the west, and if Cujo wasn't governor, I'd move back in a second...

Vermont has travel restrictions based in case count per county of residence. If your county is under, you’re good to visit and no self-quarantine needed. Vermont’s list is updated every Friday.

It probably depends on the specifics of where you are going. We were north of that area for the first half of July and just returned south along the northway and thruway. There weren't any traffic stops and I haven't seen any sign of any enforcement on the roadways. The one place we saw activity was in Vermont, on one of the islands. We were interested in taking a look at a state park, and we would have had to fill out a form in order to pass the gate. The form involved information about our recent travels, and I assume it was in place because of the campground at the park. We didn't want to see the park that badly, so we drove on. Otherwise, we have found people in the north country fed up with all this nonsense.

Masks to enter stores or restaurants are the norm, but we were able to go out to eat, shop, use the marina, etc. Lake George is probably more strict than further north, because it is busier and closer to NYC. State coffers are low, so watch out for State Police generating revenue through speeding tickets. We are from a non-threat state, so not as obvious a target for enforcement, but we really didn't see anything out of the ordinary. With the loss of tourism from Canada, a lot of merchants are really hurting and grateful for support this summer. Check the COVID situation for your target county to be sure, but a lot of those northern beauty spots have had little activity and with sparse population, there isn't much reason for it to increase.

Yes it is! Spent the last week of July & the first week of August during most of my childhood between Saranac and Moffit’s Beach in Speculator. Very fond memories indeed.
