George Floyd and Proning

Those who believe that George Floyd was "killed" by the cops need to understand something.

I found this little tidbit while looking up some COVID stats:

This Article explains how a technique called "proning" is helping COVID patients with their breathing problems.

What it is? It's simply putting a person on their stomach and turning their head to the side. In this way it allows them to breathe easier.

From the article:

Why does proning work? Flipping a patient on their stomach helps respiration because “oxygenation (getting more oxygen into the blood) is easier in the prone position," says Dr. Stewart. It's a function of anatomy, as the human body has more lung tissue in the back of the body than in the front. The coronavirus causes abnormal fluids and secretions to pool toward the back, where there's more lung tissue, and leads to greater interference with lung function. “When a patient is in the prone position, gravity helps the secretions move downward, so more of the ‘good’ lung is on top and therefore less affected,” Harry Peled, MD, a medical director in critical care at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, California, tells Health.

Now ask yourself...what position was George Floyd in when he died? They had him on his stomach with his head turned and were keeping him there by holding him down. In other words, they were doing EXACTLY what they should have been doing when someone is claiming that they are having trouble breathing.

Yet another reason that I'm sure defense lawyers are going to point out. They took steps to SAVE his life by having him on his stomach. Not take it.

Looked all through the guide; missed any mention of kneeling on the back of the patient’s neck or binding their hands behind their back, which puts maximum pressure on their chest cavity. Could you explain to everyone (including the board certified medical doctors) how those contribute to more successful breathing?

The thing that triggered these riots was the MSM reporting of the Floyd demise and spiking the facts behind his condition at the time. Because of that getting those facts out are desperately needed

The democrat controlled media racist killing reporting was a deliberate miss portraying of the six foot seven inch 200 plus pound Floyd as an innocent black who was being forceably restrained because he was black not because he was resisting arrest. When He was legitimately arrested for passing a counterfeit $20 dollar bill he was resisting arrest and was a threat if not secured. But the media was not mentioning his size or reporting that Floyd was removed from a squad car because he was acting up under the influence of drugs and also later was discovered to have COVID 19. Which suggests his physical condition may have led to his death which the media turned into a murder change and a charge of serious abuse by police because of police efforts that were tried to get him who under control. If Obama had urged blacks to believe in the justice system and comply with the police would we be confronting his use of creating racial division now ?
The results of politically induced miss reporting incidents where blacks have resisted legitimate arrest began to be used earlier during and after the post Zimmmerman trial, then on to the Ferguson episode. Obama’s abuse of the “Bully Pulpit” which seemed to promote resistance to legitimate arrest led to black gangs attacking non blacks found innocently traversing black neighborhoods and to a score of murders or life changing injuries and later attacks of theft and vandalism on local businesses as well as attacks and murders of police officers during that period

Dr. Michel Badin did conduct an autopsy of the body of George Floyd. Where did you get the idea that he did not see the body? How could he come up with this observation:

“There were rough abrasions around the left eye and left cheek, and a little bit on the nose and mouth, that are due, as we can see in the video, to his left side of his face being rubbed against the pavement while the left knee of the officer is squeezing down on the left side of the neck…the neck is a small area with many vital organs, arteries, veins, nerves, and the windpipe, all of which are compressed with the knee activity. The abrasions.. would also indicate that a component of the interference of breathing was also some pressures that were placed on the nose and mouth. These are also very painful kinds of scrapes. Also severe scrape marks on the back of his left shoulder that was part of the activity that was causing him to rub against the officer’s knee as well as the face being on the ground.”

I described very closely what Dr. Badin describes as “Mechanical Asphyxia.” Here are Badin’s words:

“The cause of death in my opinion is asphyxia due to compression of the neck, which as Mr. Crump indicated can interfere with blood flow and oxygen going to the brain and compression of the back which interferes with breathing.” He said some police are under the false impression that if you can talk you can breathe, urging them to take it seriously when a person says “I can’t breathe.”

You quoted the words that would contradict Dr. Badin’s conclusion of Mechanical Asphyxia: “ Layer by layer dissection of the anterior strap muscles of the neck discloses no areas of contusion or hemorrhage within the musculature.”

Dr. Badin explains why there were “no areas of contusion . . .”

“compressive pressure of the neck and back are not seen at autopsy because the pressure has been released . . . it can only be seen, serious compressive pressure on the neck and back, can only be seen while the pressure is being applied or when, as in this instance, it is captured on video.”

I say that after Dr. Badin went through the extensive investigaton of Jeffry Eptsien’s death, he had fresh in his mind the dynamics of Asphyxia. He believes that George Floyd was murdered too.

You are not helping promote your argument and showcase your expertise by hurling insults.

Less “gas” more “dr” will persuade me.

(I had to postpone judgement until I had read all/most of the thread. Many will cut you off after your first posts — that’s human nature. It less how smart we are and more form/presentation.)

I understand what you are saying, but for someone to actually cite that the cops were trying to help him by proning and he read it in a few medical journals is an insult to those of us ho have devoted a life to healing. People simply need to stay in their lanes when they have no idea what they are talking about...

Remember...Tis better to be silent and thought a fool than speak up and remove all doubt.

From my perspective to let such drivel stay unchallenged is unacceptable, and the level of outright tomfoolery that this poster exhibited should be called out in harsh ways. If he were educable, I would take a more educated approach, however when the statement of expertise is “I googled a few things and read some medical journals” well, there is little else to say.

The problem in 2020 is everyone behind a keyboard is a complete and total expert, and it is abundantly clear when they are not...

The only other adage I have heard:

He who known what he knows not is wise — follow him
He who knows not what he knows not is a fool — shun him

When you reveal yourself to be fool, the response sometimes is not gentle, nor should it be.

It’s interesting but I found that Michael Baden didn’t perform the autopsy. It was backed up by a USA today article. I wonder which will come out in court?

The 85 year old freelance medical examiner has quite a past and a present.

In recent days, he has fanned the flames of “cover-up” by reporting that Mr. George Floyd was indeed choked to death despite the county medical examiner’s finding that Floyd did not die from asphyxiation and he did not die from strangulation.

CPR when his heart stopped. Paying any damned attention AT ALL when he was obviously in distress BEFORE they killed him.
