Conservative author and activist Michelle Malkin was brutally assaulted and prevented from speaking as she made her way to the speaker’s platform at a pro-police public rally in downtown Denver on Sunday. The patriotic event, the 6th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day billed as “family friendly,” was advertised in advance on social media including at Malkin’s Twitter, where she has 2.2 million followers.
Malkin was live streaming the event from her cell phone on Periscope Sunday afternoon as the situation deteriorated after masked thugs wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts assaulted two speakers and then set upon Malkin. A diminutive child of immigrants from the Philippines who legally moved to the U.S. in the late 1960s, Malkin, who was born in Philadelphia in 1970, describes herself as a “little brown woman” with a “big mouth.” Malkin linked to the entire 35 minute long Periscope video at her Twitter.
On the video, which had been viewed over 150,000 times by early Monday, several individuals identifying themselves as Black Lives Matter accost Malkin as one or more of them unfurl collapsible batons and begin pushing and beating on Malkin. In the process, she loses a shoe and is eventually assisted in escaping to a waiting car by the event’s security volunteers, at which point the video feed ends. Malkin was understandably distraught at this unanticipated violent turn of events and expressed frustration that Denver police, who were visibly present in the area, did nothing to stop the attacks or to allow the peaceful pro-police rally to continue.

I don't know if they were "armed" but MM had a security team.
I watched her l o n g podcast (or whatever they call it) and I saw no attempt by her security team to COUNTER the attackers when they spilled down (like manure) from above.
Yes, they scurried her off safely ("I lost my shoe!), got her in a car (it didn't sound like thy even had an exit plan), and she's unharmed. Good.
There were several anarchists that could have used some "push back" from the protection unit.
Yes. These LEOs (no- "LIO" is a better term - "Law Ignoring Officers") filed through, then apparently DID NOTHING! This is not a general reflection on LEOs... just these people... and more likely they were obeying their leadership (Chief and Mayor). SHAME ON THEM!
Armed security must go with such speakers.

I now live in a Constitutional Carry State. Even though I can Carry Legally here, I am applying for a CCW so I can have Reciprocal Carry in the 30 (plus) States that allow it.
As an aside, I am still surprised that the great State of Texas does not allow Constitutional Carry given their historical reputation as a bastion of Freedom and Individualism.
In 2020 Blue America, the police won’t protect you even when you stage a pro-police rally. Bear that in mind, and act accordingly.
Michelle Malkin has been a warrior for some years; but, I am beginning to fear for her life after this incident.

For the police on the scene, it was a no-win situation. Do as they did and be accused of dereliction of their duty; step in, protect the peaceful and make arrests then be charged with whatever the leftist administration can come up with.
It will be immediately rejected. There have been *several* decisions.
All it will do is waste money on lawyers.
What she should do instead is run paid ads on local TV and targeted internet to promote her video of the event, discourage tourism and business, and watch how fast the locals start throwing people under the bus.

Not only that, they should have documented and publicized the order. Those who GIVE THE ORDERS must be outed and punished.

I should have worded that better to say “I think the election might possibly be disrupted”.
That has to do with Joe Strauss and his successors. Governor Abbott said he would sign Constitutional Carry or Open Carry, whichever the legislature would send to him. OC was what got to his desk.
Third choice - resign.
It will be interesting to see how many, if any, resign or retire early over the next few weeks.
