The execution of a pirate in the Bay of New-York is, fortunately, an event of uncommon occurrence. On June 21, 1839, under the superintendence of W.H.C. WADDELL, United States Marshal, the pirate and murderer CORNELIUS WILHELMS, was hung at Bedloe's Island, nearly on the spot where HICKS yesterday paid the penalty of his crimes. He was one of the crew of the ship Braganza, an American vessel plying between this City and Antwerp. From the latter port she sailed in March of that year, but instead of making a smooth passage across the Atlantic, was driven far out of her course by contrary winds, was then be calmed, and next bestormed, and after narrowly escaping wreck, became the scene of a most fearful tragedy.
