Seattle City Council won’t fulfill Mayor Durkan’s request to investigate Sawant, González says

The Seattle City Council won’t fulfill Mayor Jenny Durkan’s request to investigate and potentially expel Councilmember Kshama Sawant for alleged bad behavior, Council President M. Lorena González said Wednesday.

González said she wants the council to concentrate on other work.

On Tuesday, Durkan released a letter to González asking the council to investigate Sawant for taking part in a Black Lives Matter protest march to Durkan’s home and for several other actions, such as opening City Hall to protesters on the evening of June 9.

The mayor accused Sawant “and her followers” of displaying “reckless disregard of the safety of my family and children,” and she noted the City Charter authorizes the council “to punish its members and others for disorderly or otherwise contemptuous behavior.” Durkan accused Sawant of leading the march to her home and mentioned graffiti spray painted at her property; organizers said Sawant was an invited speaker.

“(Sawant) and organizers knew that my address was protected under the state confidentiality program because of threats against me due largely to my work as U.S. Attorney,” Durkan wrote.

See if the socialist Sawant ever made a call to Russia. That should do it.

It’s so much fun seeing the woke suddenly discover that nobody can ever be woke enough, and sooner or later the woke mob is going to turn on them too.

They never learn.

Your comment makes me think of a part early in George Orwell’s 1984 in which a friend of Winston’s who was a very staunch supporter of Big Brother had a discussion with Winston in which he quoted Party ideals and related things. A while later, Winston learned that this person had been arrested and executed because he was deemed a threat to the Party.

A far leftist has to find someone to demonize. There’s no one who is remotely conservative in Seattle government. As someone who is a bit less far left, and is white, Durkan becomes the logical target. I wonder if Durkan is surprised that the council won’t investigate Sawant.

“A while later, Winston learned that this person had been arrested and executed because he was deemed a threat to the Party.”

I listened to an FSU professor in a wheelchair and using an oxygen cylinder talk about sending Republicans to the gas chamber. My first thought was, if the new government under Obama is that powerful they will eliminate your useless eater @$$ first. They always go after other communists and social malcontents who brought them to power first. Odd how the intellectual class never seem to remember that. They all believe that the new government will knock on their parent’s basement door and beg them to come run things.

Any student of history knows that Dachau was built primarily to incarcerate political prisoners and “malcontents “.

The protesters terrorized downtown Seattle, where she is mayor, and she did nothing. Until they came to her house.

This is classic liberal elitist behavior.

The other work being how much more they can tax businesses since many are leaving Seattle and the burden falls on those that are left who soon will be packing up themselves.

In a related matter, the CC imposed a fat tax on soda, so what happened? People just went across the city line to neighboring towns (at most a one mile drive in some cases) and the tax revenue (already allocated that didn't come in) was pretty non-existent.
