Dems - The party of racism, segregation, and slavery since 1655
Washington Examiner ^ | January 31, 2019 | Alana Goodman

Joe Biden, weighing a 2020 White House bid, once advocated continued school segregation in the United States, arguing that it benefited minorities and that integration would prevent black people from embracing “their own identity.”

Biden was speaking in 1975, when he opposed the federally mandated busing policy designed to end segregation in schools. In the past few decades, he has claimed he wanted desegregation but believed the policy of busing would not achieve it. Last year, he stated he had voted heroically to protect busing.

We need to remember that southern "democrats" (party names have changed over the centuries, but the driving ideologies have not) argued during the formation of the Constitution to have their black slaves count as part of the population for the purposes of representation in Congress and taxation... without regard for the fact that their slaves were human beings. This point of contention is what led to the 3/5 Compromise.

We also need to remember that Lincoln, the first republican, issued the Emancipation Proclamation during the "Civil War" as southern Democrats fought to keep their slaves in the 1860s, and that it was Democrats like Bull Connor who unleashed dogs and fire hoses on Civil Rights marches in the South 100 years later.

1828, but I’m with you on this; let’s not play NYT’s game and pre-ascribe blame.

“Thank a republican today if you’re free. Fighting oppression since 1854 “

That should be our sign.

The Republican Party began as a coalition of anti-slavery Conscience Whigs such as Zachariah Chandler and Free Soil Democrats such as Salmon P. Chase. The first anti-Nebraska local meeting where “Republican” was suggested as a name for a new anti-slavery party was held in a Ripon, Wisconsin schoolhouse on March 20, 1854.

The turning point, I think, was when anti-slavery Democrats joined with some Whigs to form the Republican Party. At that point, the Democrats could truly defined as the slavery party, around 1855. All that has changed since is whom they choose to enslave.

Hell, let's lower it down to 1619, their favorite.

One glaring problem is the fact that the Democrat Party didn't exist in 1655. The Boston Tea Party didn't occur until December 16, 1773. In 1792 the Democrat-Republican Party was formed by the anti-federalists consisting of Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and other influential opponents of the Federalists. The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers. It wasn't until 1824 that the Democrat-Republican Party was officially renamed as the Democrat Party.

When the Republican Party was formed, it was the least conservative party, as the Democrat Party was fiercely conservative in comparison.

The Democrats tended to attract the industrialists, plantation owners and professional classes; the Republicans attracted the farmers and factory workers. The Democrats were arguably stronger on foreign policy, and most American wars to date had been fought under Democratic presidents.

The Republicans were more focused on domestic issues, especially in the early 20th century, such as breaking up monopolies and establishing national parks.

Don't be fooled by the name now often attributed to the Democrat Party as the Democratic Party. There is no such party, officially, known as the Democratic Party.

The first anti-Nebraska local meeting where “Republican” was suggested as a name for a new anti-slavery party was held in a Ripon, Wisconsin schoolhouse on March 20, 1854.[13] The first statewide convention that formed a platform and nominated candidates under the Republican name was held near Jackson, Michigan, on July 6, 1854. At that convention, the party opposed the expansion of slavery into new territories and selected a statewide slate of candidates.[14] The Midwest took the lead in forming state Republican Party tickets.

Why is everyone, including Fox News, going to such great links to alienate the conservative South ?

Enough with the virtue-signaling, by looking down on Southerners.

Save the verbal ammo for the real enemy.....the modern Soro/Socialist Party.

I always enjoyed Mark Levin, and his perspectives.

But, he’s now unwatchable. He spends as much time trashing the South as he does bemoaning the Soro/Socialist mobs.

It’s not only irritating, it’s poor tactics.

Please come back, old Mark Levin.

Dems are trying to erase history because they were the KKK and White Supremacists. They were the slave owners and still to this day run inner cities like plantations. Take a look at this short video which talks about the 5 points used by the dems to keep blacks on the plantations are the same points used today to keep the blacks enslaved in the inner cities run by them. It is the dems who are the party of the KKK, white supremacists and racists to this day. They are also facists by trying to keep this truth from coming out.

You omitted George Wallace and Lester Maddox Democrats all....
Additionally, since Biden and Democrats have opposed busing created by Eisenhower in 1954...

Robert;

I’m aware the party names have changed over the centuries. I thought I touched on that in my original post, but since that wasn’t my focus, I may have skimmed past it a bit too quickly. Thanks for elaborating!

I opted for 1655 because that’s when the life expectancy of servants in America made it more appealing to buy slaves rather than pay the way for indentured servants, who would be freed after a period of about 7 years.
