Vanity - Verizon/Fios Box Beep Problem

Posted on 06/27/2020 6:22:37 PM PDT by Jamestown1630

Our Verizon 'box' is driving us nuts.

Early today, it began loudly beeping every three minutes.

When this happened in the past, we either found a loose connection and fixing that solved the problem, or just removed the battery until we could replace it.

This time, we have tried everything - looked it up and watched videos, etc.; but nothing we've done has stopped the beep. (Our situation doesn't even seem to 'fit' the advice we're seeing - our 'low battery' light has never gone on.)

A couple of times today, we've seemed to hear another unit's box beeping somewhere in the apt. building, too; but not as often as ours. The only unusual thing that has happened lately is that we lost power for about 15 minutes during a storm on Thursday.

Now that fireworks are already going off all night here in the 'barrio', the addition of the constant screech-beep is driving us nuts.

Has anyone else experienced this, and know of a solution? We don't even need the backup, but it will take us days to get another battery, if that's the only solution.

Thanks for any advice that anyone may be able to give,

JT

It does that if you watch Tucker Carlson more than once a week

Power cycle your Router first, and then do It to each box you have all around the house.

It will probably take about 15 minutes for everything to come bake up.

It’s a low battery signal for the 911 system for the void phone line ... even if you don’t use it.

It’s downloading instruction to the chip in your head. It will be done in a moment.

Unplug it. Count to 10, and re-plug it.

I’m not sure what “box” you are referring to. Set top box, can’t help. The back up battery box - I can help. The battery needs to be replaced. There should be a button on the box that will pause the beeps for a period of time, or pulling the battery and then re-hooking it can sometimes buy some time.

In any event, if that is the box of which you are speaking, take out the battery (not easy because of the way the retention clips are set up), take it to Battery Plus or somewhere similar, and buy a new one. I think Verizon sells them, but it’s probably easier (and slightly cheaper) to take it to a store.

The beeps are pretty annoying.

I had a logitech universal remote that i never used do this. Took me a month to figure out what was beeping once an hour. It sounded exactly the same as a computer when it posts and since i had like 5 computers an a nas in the same room... it sucked especially since none of them claimed to have rebooted

Check if the power brick to the unit is working. My neighbor and I had this same issue right after a power outage. The surge when the power returned killed the transformer. There is an LED on the brick (actually a POE injector). If this has gone out, you’re running on battery - hence the beep.

Thanks to everyone - (except the ‘Tucker Carlson’ comment and ones similar).

We’ve tried everything, saw the video suggested, etc. Nothing is working. Doesn’t fix if we leave the battery in or out, press the ‘silence’ button, nothing.

No, we have not called Verizon. There should be a way to fix something oneself, when you don’t even need this back-up thingie to start with.

Thanks again.

Verizon is yahoo and they’ve probably identified you by your online actions as the opposition.
