Biden says he would use his power as president to mandate masks be worn in public. Trump has more of a relaxed attitude about masks. This is an opportunity to clearly articulate a key difference between the two. Team Trump needs to emphasize this distinction in policy. As bad and as awful as a nationwide mask mandate is right now I guarantee that that policy statement will not age well. In November people will despise masks even more than they do now. DJT - call Biden out now! And hammer on this issue!
Lockdown part 2 is happening right now in Texas and other Republican states. These Governors are dumb for not using this as an opportunity to distinguish their views from those of the tyrant Democrat governors. They need to say lockdowns are dumb. See paragraph 1 - it is clear what Republican Governors should be doing and it isn’t what they are doing now.

That’s not wearing an item of clothing, but a piece of equipment required of the manufacturer...which you can be cited for not attaching, but only because there is a proven value in wearing them and the insurance companies rely on them. You could cite things like life jacket laws, where people are not necessarily cited for not wearing them, but water sports companies and others are required to provide them and you’re supposed to have them on your boat. But again, there’s a proven life saving value here and insurers require them.
There is no proven benefit to wearing a mask, and in fact the “guidance” on this has changed several times depending on the political winds. If private companies want them, fine . But the government cannot order the wearing what is essentially a symbolic piece of clothing, moreover one which has many negative health impacts and is a particular problem for people with disabilities.
Seriously. I live in a very republican heavy area of Greenville (SC) county. Last week at the grocery store about 30 percent of people were wearing masks. Today my husband and I were the only ones without. Lots of Karens gave us dirty looks, too.
