Steve Bing, a producer, philanthropist and screenwriter, has died by suicide in Los Angeles. He was 55.
Police and the coroners office said a man fitting his age jumped from a Century City apartment building on Monday. Sources told TMZ he had been suffering from depression.
Bing, who inherited a fortune of some $600 million from his grandfather, L.A. real estate developer Leo S. Bing, also contributed millions of dollars to Democratic political causes.
In 2003, he co-wrote the action comedy Kangaroo Jack, and he also contributed to Missing in Action and wrote an episode of Married With Children.
Bing invested some $80 million in The Polar Express, the Tom Hanks-voiced 2004 film directed by Robert Zemeckis. He had executive producer credits on a number of films and music documentaries, including Rolling Stones documentary Shine a Light, directed by Martin Scorsese, CSNY/Deja Vu, Rock the Kasbah, Get Carter, Rules Dont Apply, Girl Walks Into a Bar and a Jerry Lee Lewis documentary that is in the works.
His political contributions, in addition to the Democratic Party, have included Al Gore, Gavin Newsom, Hilary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein.
Bing had relationships with Elizabeth Hurley, with whom he had a son, Damian, and with Kira Bonder, a former tennis player with whom he had a daughter, Kira. Both women filed paternity suits to compel Bing to disclose his parenthood, and both found that he was the father.
“Damian Hurley looks like a girl.”
Was thinking the same. I’ve never met the kid and know nothing about him, but at first glance one might say that he looks like a boy who’s trying very hard to resemble his mom. Which. Is. Very. Weird. Poor kid is likely very messed up. Absentee, disinterested playboy dad. Glamorous sex symbol mom whose looks attract the world’s attention. Well, the whole thing isn’t exactly a recipe for having his head on straight.
Her kid also is the one taking photos of her in a bikini that you would see at Yahoo.com
They are there all the time.
His children will suffer more.
Yeah, that’s a little weird. Actually, a lot weird. I have to play armchair psychiatrist, but let’s say that a boy grows up fatherless and starved for attention. Who does he know that gets boatloads of attention? His sexpot mom. Thus, we see his emulation of her appearance (her huge mane of hair specifically), and, as you note, his unorthodox practice of taking sexy photographs of her.
She is incredibly hot, but any woman who’s been with Slick Willie is a hard pass.
