Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Thursday lambasted as clearly racist and deeply offensive a tweet by the Chicago Teachers Union depicting an apparent cartoon version of her tied up, wearing a police uniform and being unmasked by the characters from the Scooby-Doo TV show.
The tweet depicts the African American mayor bound with rope, surrounded by the white characters, who have taken a police officer mask off her head to reveal that the officer is actually Lightfoot. Its a play on the scene at the end of each episode of the Hanna Barbera cartoon, when the team of youngsters would solve the mystery by unmasking a villain to show it was actually a person theyd met earlier in the episode.
Lightfoot said she hadnt seen the tweet, but had it described to her.
Let me say this: If that kind of tweet, which is clearly racist, had been put forward by a right wing group, we would rightly be denouncing them, and I think our scorn should be no less because it was put out by the CTU, she said at a morning news conference about repairs to the lakefront trail.
Its certainly disappointing when a group that professes to be educators, people who are in our classrooms, teaching our young people, would engage in these kinds of really deeply offensive and disappointing tactics, Lightfoot added.

Wouldn’t it be easier to give a list of the 2-3 things that are not racist?
My take is this.
Any big city police dept that is having problems is in a democrat run city. Hence, behind every mask(police) there is a democrat running things. JMHO Besides didn’t she say she was the face of the city when she got her illegal haircut?
Butt Hurt Alert! Butt Hurt Alert!
I went into a Subway a few days ago and wondered how much longer could I get away with asking for white American cheese.
It would have been funnier if they had used the Groot image for her...
And she’d have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids!
OMG! She called the uber-leftist teachers union right-wing?! No wonder they’re pissed at her!
She is such a nagger.
Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
She’s attacking them from the Left, criticizing her for not abolishing the police. She’s an enemy of the police, but not quite unhinged and rabidly as they’d like. Merely Josef Stalin, not Pol Pot.
Dont hold your breath. Chicago is the sole reason Kennedy was President... theyll march lock step to vote D. If some particular D angered them they might vote R for that position but they arent going to show up and vote R down the ballot.
IL is sadly lost due to chicagoans basically voting to keep themselves down perpetually
why was she wearing a white face mask?
is that the inherent racism in the system?
help help i’m being oppressed.
Not many strippers named Velma.
Nah, not by Robot Chicken (@ 2:57), discretion of course:

Groot is one of the most thin-skinned pols I have ever seen. But, it’s par for the course for a lesbian racist with a chip on her shoulder the size of a thousand-year old redwood tree.
LOL...hilarious response, by SC.
No, but Groot will be a one-termer.
For those of you trying to figure out where the racism is, it’s wherever they say it is.
That’s what you get when you accept their premise that racism is an actual thing, that it matters, that it is not a completely natural phenomenon (to the extent that it even exists), that it’s bad, and that it’s anything other than a political weapon for one group to use on another (it doesn’t work the other way around no matter how much it is tried).
Accept those premises, and you end up trying in vain to find the “racism” in a Scooby Doo cartoon meme.
