Why didn't more people pay attention to Little Richards gospel music?
Probably because gospel music is the music of good news and in these days there just isnt any. Good news in todays world is like a fugitive, treated like a hoodlum and put on the run. Castigated. All we see is good-for-nothing news. And we have to thank the media industry for that. It stirs people up. Gossip and dirty laundry. Dark news that depresses and horrifies you.
On the other hand, gospel news is exemplary. It can give you courage. You can pace your life accordingly, or try to, anyway. And you can do it with honor and principles. There are theories of truth in gospel but to most people its unimportant. Their lives are lived out too fast. Too many bad influences. Sex and politics and murder is the way to go if you want to get peoples attention. It excites us, thats our problem.

The whole excerpt above is the sort of thing we never hear nowadays. And the part I bolded describes the MSM very well.
Liberals and leftists seem to love and practically worship Bob Dylan, but it's like they never even pay attention to what he says.
Or they don't understand or can't even understand.
The Left gets its energy from anger.
Those leftists obviously never heard “Neighborhood Bully”, probably the most staunch song ever made in defense of Israel.
Bkmrk
If this was written by Bob Dylan why does the attribution say Douglas Brinkley?
BTW, I just read your excerpt, don’t want to go to the link. Because I’m not really interested in what mixed-up Boob Dylan thinks about anything anyway. Besides, I never go to the NYSlimes.
Is he a closet conservative? Who knows- probably not. But he is also not a pathetic aging hipster spouting off hackneyed leftist platitudes a la David Crosby or Roger Watters.
Great song BTW.
Loved Dylan from the first time— back in the 60’s—his songs started being played on the local rock station. Have the Blonde on Blonde album; sure wish I’d not let go of some earlier ones.
His words are real poetry, and I was really amazed, and happy, when he recently received a Noble prize for literature!
“Those leftists obviously never heard Neighborhood Bully, probably the most staunch song ever made in defense of Israel.”
I hadn’t either. I’ve never been a bug Dylan fan. I did buy abs listen to Good As I Been To You.
That is a great album.
Actually a very good interview with Bob Dylan. While I don’t claim to be a HUGE fan of his music, there is no question he is a great songwriter. In this interview he comes across a very sincere, at peace, and processing a certain wisdom about the world today.
Infidels is a great album, especially “Jokerman”. Mark Knopfler produced it and played on it.
Nobel Prize.
Try the album infidels. Lots to love.
“Murder Most Foul”
There’s a great 60 Minutes interview with Dylan by Ed Bradley where Dylan basically said the Left was upset with him because they wanted him to support their causes and he wouldn’t. He’s a closet conservative.
I thought that was great too and that he really deserved the Nobel. Somebody once asked him about the meaning of one of his songs, and he said, I dunno...the words just sounded good together and thats what I wanted to say.
So thats a real poet. The words gave you a picture, an image, that had no political or other meaning but was his poetic vision. The poets vision is the world drawn verbally. So thats why he deserved the Nobel..
Im going to have to check out the new album.
There’s a slow train comin’ around the bend...
“It may be the devil or it may be the Lord.
“But you know you gotta serve somebody.”
