Since anything having to do with "slavery" is taboo it appears that we must rename all of the original thirteen colonies as well as any other state that once had slavery within it's borders. Just changing the names of a few military bases isn't going to cut the mustard. So far, the name changers and statue destroyers have picked on easy fruit, monuments to dead white folks. What are they waiting for? Let's get right to the main event and start demanding that the States themselves change their names.
Governor Northam, it's your turn to be a hero and have the Virginia state legislature lead the way. Netflix and Youtube can help by deleting any episodes of the television series "the Virginian" as a nice kick starter. The word "South" must be forbidden to be spoken by law. That place was full of slavery and any mention of the word itself probably causes considerable harm to the ancestors of those slaves. "Yankee" must also be stricken and that stadium must be renamed or torn down because "Yankees" won the Civil War and that is another painful reminder about slavery. In fact, blue and grey need to be stricken from the crayola box because everyone associates those colors with that war. One day, once everything has been removed or renamed, the word "slave" can be gotten rid of and there will be NOTHING upon which to look back at in history that could possibly trigger someone. It's time. Let's get started and get the ball rolling by calling your representatives at the local, state, and federal levels. We can do this and feel good about it now.
Africa and Islam are going to be re-named?
We can rename it “New Floyd”.
Do Jews count in all this. FDR was a well known anti-Semite. Should his picture and busts be removed from the White House.
I would say “Don’t give them ideas” but I know they’ve been entertaining that thought already, for for a far longer time back than anyone who isn’t them would dare to think. It’s not about easing pain and leaving bad memories behind, it’s about imposing “Year Zero” conditions and this means nothing more to the actual backers of the movement than a convenient tool. When that ceases to be useful, they’ll look for some other bloody shirt to wave.
I am sure that once the states rename themselves that the stunning example of having done so will influence both of those names to be changed.
The KKK democrat party of slavery and segregation must be dissolved.
What about all those things named after Robert Byrd?
Two slave states fought for the Union - and the Emancipation Proclamation didn’t free their slaves.
NJ was a slave state until 15 years before the Civil War; when our governor Fail Murphy removed Mississippi’s flag from one of our state parks because it had the Confederate flag on it, Mississippi could have used the same logic and removed ours. WE had been a slave state as well!
I don’t believe you are quite getting the push to rename the Army bases that are currently named for Confederate soldiers. The push to rename them isn’t because the people they were named after were slaveholders (not sure if all were, and in any case, slavery was legal at that time). It’s because they were traitors to the United States. Very simple - don’t try to muddy the waters.
US Army bases should be named after US Army heroes, not traitors to our country. My suggestion is that they be named after Medal of Honor winners from that state. For example, Fort Hood should be renamed Fort Audie Murphy, a Texas native.
Ive proposed Oprahoma for Georgias new name. George II was so imperialistic.
lol
Chief Seattle used to own slaves. The city must be renamed.
FDR kicking the Constitution to the curb is enough reason to erase his legacy in domestic governance from the land.
And they’ll probably take down The Rocky Statue, because he beat up a black guy.
Anything named after a democrat should be renamed.
So, let's see if I get this straight. These folks who had bases named after them apparently were not seen as traitors by the people who named the bases and those folks who named the bases lived much nearer to the time that the war occurred. Here you are, much later in time, insisting that your opinion holds more weight than theirs? Get lost with your "traitor" shit. Even the US Government ruled Confederate soldiers as veterans and EQUAL in stature to the Union army veterans. Who the hell are you to force your stupid take on what actually happened?
Okay, I claim Trumplandia for Florida!...................
