Actually, the batteries weigh the same as the weight of the jet fuel no longer required

Two tons of batteries or two tons of fuel, which will take you further.

“Well, why didn’t the author of this article include that useful piece of information? Wasn’t he part of your discussion last week?”

I don’t know. Different article.

That’s surprising, because I pegged this as purely a scam designed to defraud investors. I just can’t imagine any other purpose.

But that’s 100 miles before we mount the windmills on the wings to refuel in-flight!

Turbine: $200
Electric: $15

It’s just a matter of time before these electric planes are commonplace. But it’s going to take a while. One thing I noticed: the batteries weigh two tons and take up most of the space in the plane. Gonna require some dramatic improvements in battery technology to make this practical.

The densest and by far the most convenient/safest form of energy storage short of nuclear are the highly branched saturated alkanes. This electric crap is a complete fad.

Thankfully.

Design basis: Battery is sized based on removed fuel tank size and weight.

“TWO TONS OF BATTERIES AND COOLING EQUIPMENT”

So a good 2500 lbs. more than the gasoline version. I guess that leaves enough capacity for a feather or two.

Interesting. It had to start somewhere. I’m not sold, but interested.

Perhaps you should do your homework instead of reposting uniformed opinions.

Nope. If it were a lie you would counter it with facts. You didn’t.
