Actually, Nixon just squeaked by Humphrey in 68. But if George Wallace hasn’t been running as a Third Party candidate, Nixon might have captured most of the blue collar voters who responded to Wallace’s “law and order” rhetoric.
It also helped he wasn’t running against the superstar, Robert F. Kennedy.
Actually, Nixon did not have a landslide in 1968; you are thinking about 1972.
Setting that aside, we have 50-plus years of public education since 1968 and the damage it has done to the fabric of America can not be overstated.
American institutions and our people have been absolutely destroyed by the public education system.
