NYPD cop is under investigation after video showed him violently shoving female protester, 20, to the ground during a George Floyd protest in Brooklyn that saw 200 people arrested

A NYPD officer is under investigation after he was filmed violently shoving a female protester to the ground during a George Floyd protest in Brooklyn that saw 200 people arrested.

The cop, who has not been identified, was seen forcefully pushing Dounya Zayer, 20, and sending her flying onto the pavement during a demonstration near Barclay's Center on Friday night.

Zayer later shared videos of herself from the hospital claiming she suffered a violent seizure from the attack and said she was 'in no way aggressive' towards the officer.

An NYPD spokesperson confirmed on Saturday that they are aware of the video circulating on social media and that it is 'under internal review.'

It was first shared by Newsweek reporter Jason Lemon who claimed that the officer called the woman a 'stupid ******* *****' before shoving her.

The NYPD Police Commissioner confirmed over 200 protesters were arrested during last night's event.

In a press conference on Saturday, Mayor Bill de Blasio, expressed solidarity with demonstrators upset about police brutality, but said there will be a full review of what went wrong.

He said he was upset by videos of the confrontations 'where protesters were handled very violently' by police.

'Any time you see a protester just arbitrarily thrown to the ground by a police officer - that does not reflect our values, that's unacceptable, and there needs to be consequences,' he said.

But he added some protesters had come 'with an agenda of violence and incitement, and they meant to harm police officers, and they did harm police officers.'

The mayor said he was concerned by reports that at least two elected officials were among the people sprayed with irritating chemicals by officers at the scene.

If DeBlasio supports the protestors then NYPD should cease defending th city and let them sack the Mayors mansion.

It was first shared by Newsweek reporter Jason Lemon who claimed that the officer called the woman a 'stupid ******* *****' before shoving her.

I see no problem with that compared to what the police have to hear and endure from the rioting animals. And I'm sure the cops words were accurate.

In a press conference on Saturday, Mayor Bill de Blasio, expressed solidarity with demonstrators upset about police brutality, but said there will be a full review of what went wrong.

Sides with the 'demonstrators'... of course he does! The cop was being rude and uncivil towards the peaceful demonstrators. The cop probably needs to be disciplined and go to anger-management course.

Good thing that cop in Baltimore is not in NYC.

They would hang him for good measure AFTER keelhauling him.

Guess the ONLY saving grace is he is also Black and in the same ‘tape’ she is seen hitting the White cop twice then the Black cop comes over the top and coldcocks her...

THAT is reality TV....

Looked like he was escorting “the Boss” as a bodyguard, clearing a path in front of him. It didn’t look as bad as I expected, but still unacceptable. I doubt “the Boss” was impressed. Falling backward on the asphalt can have terrible consequences.

Was the person legitimately protesting?

People have a right to that, according to this thing that Freepers usually hold in regard, called the Constitution.

If you’re not rioting, you have a right to protest, a right that should be defended just as zealously as we would our right to keep and bear arms.

How would you feel if cops treated the people protesting against lockdown, or anti RKBA laws like that?

I think rioters and looters should be shot, I think protesters who are not burning, looting or breaking things have as much rights as I do.

Saw one of the clips and sure does look like she was putting her hands up to the cop. Good for him. But of course, DeBlasio will back the protester and just when you think he can’t lose anymore credibility with the NYPD, he’ll lower the bar even more.

Every NYPD cop should stand down and let the protesters do what they want.

Yep. It’s a shame the old nightstick has gone out of favor. And I don’t mean for clubbing. A nightstick held horizontally with both hands - and applied just below the center of mass - can move someone back without much risk of harm.

But of course an ornery person might then grab the nightstick, and escalate the situation. So there’s that.
