Casinos in Las Vegas and other Nevada cities can reopen next Thursday for the first time since the coronavirus forced the gaming industry to shut down more than two months ago, Gov. Steve Sisolak says. The state plans to revive its gaming industry nearly a week after it starts Phase 2 of its reopening this Friday.
"We continue to see a consistent and sustainable downward trajectory of percentage of positive COVID-19 cases and a decrease in the trend of COVID-19 hospitalizations," Sisolak said Tuesday night.
Casinos are forming plans that they hope will entice customers to return. As Nevada Public Radio reports, "Some casinos are offering free parking; others have done away with resort fees. Resorts have even been offering steep discounts on rooms."
The state's gaming industry has been idled since March 18, when Sisolak suspended all gaming operations. In the days leading up to that emergency order, many casinos, restaurants and bars on the Las Vegas Strip had already begun closing because of the coronavirus.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board will release more details on Wednesday about the reopening of casinos, Sisolak said.

Does he have Nancy’s permission?
They say they will be open but to what extent? I mean, will their patrons be treated as lepers? I wouldn’t want that.
the acrylic panels they are putting on black jack tables are going to be filthy with germs as people breathe all over them
but then...so will chips.
We need Moe Green......
Why not Wednesday?
What “Science” says a day makes a difference?
Is this going to pull money away from Wall Street? Stocks and commodities have been seeing a lot of “action” lately.
And there is no sports betting.
(Only half-serious here).
Moe is dead but we still have Fredo.
That's the way Las Vegas USED to be!
I remember staying at the Circus Circus for $19 a night and I could play the penny slots all night and get all the free drinks and shrimp cocktails I wanted - the slots even dispensed actual coins and you had plastic buckets to put them in. Even the Blackjack could be played for $2 a hand.
Now the Circus Circus was low-rent even back then and I don't recommend it to anybody but it was definitely a cheap vacation back in the day.

How white of him to open!! There’s like 100 deaths in Nevada!
Live in NV. (within walking distance of a casino). Ive saved a ton of money since March 18, and I will not frequent any casino that is not back to normal ( and I mean NORMAL). If that is forever, then so be it! Screw em.
Gov. Sissy Pants, while still getting his haircuts during all this time, is a first class jerk.
Went to a salon yesterday: waited in the car, wore a mask, and paid via Venmo. Ill let my hair grow down to my knees before I do that again. Never in my life have I EVER experienced this outrageous reaction. And I lived through the polio scare.
I'm glad to see that Cugino's, my favorite Italian eatery in LV, located in a strip mall across from the University of Nevada, survived the lockdown.
You and I have radically different views about the virus, but I totally agree that I will not return to the casinos until everything is back to normal.....
I’ll be in Vegas June 1-7. Visiting a friend. If too much is required to be in a casino I won’t go. Otherwise I’ll be in one on opening night. Would love to get a little gambling in while there.
Post your experience when you go. Love to hear it.
Even if I don’t go to a casino I have a fiend there who is a bartender at The Orleans. He’ll give me the lowdown on what’s required.
