I just spent a considerable amount of time reviewing everything I could find from our immensely powerful CDC on this subject, starting here at their index.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/open-america/contact-tracing/index.html
Within that link you will find:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/principles-contact-tracing.html
Within that are many pdf documents with detail.
The principles-contact-tracing-booklet.pdf is a pretty clear outline.
The download link to that pdf is at the bottom of that page.
Apple and Google (Android) have already introduced apps to support this massive tracking effort in support of the CDC.
Apple in iOS 13.5 introduced an exposure notification API, which lets apps from public health authorities and governments worldwide help people figure out if they've been exposed to COVID-19, (to support Contact Tracing).
Android apps are promised as well. I found a link with a good explanation of this app.

Some people never learn.
The only dog I have in this is Trump- who needs good contact tracing to keep the virus down while we open up.
Of course China doesn’t want him to have that tool so the internet is full of wild fears and suspicions about the process.
China knows it’s stuff when it comes to propaganda.
And I did address your point on mismanaged contact tracing- if it comes don’t participate. It shouldn’t be nefarious, and is not supposed to be because they want cooperation.
And I’ll point out that I raised the issue of privacy. I think it reasonable to worry in this day of huge databases that laziness, ineptitude or even malice may result in breeches.
Coming on this thread was much like coming upon that Monty Python sketch with the witch and the duck: WTF?
No, it should not, but more than enough evidence has been
presented, here even, that there ARE, in fact, nefarious
interests involved, at a delicate and dangerous time in
this country.
What's the rush? We already see the plandemic winding
down in most places that are not tyrant run.
There are serious agendas at play, and what we get from
you does not seem to be bringing illumination to those
agendas. Do you have a dog in this fight that won't wait
until after the election?
Can you explain why we need a new army 6 times the size
of the TSA to spread the warmth we already get from them?
Please. Make me afraid enough to risk my grandchildren's
liberty over it, right now, when we have the tyrants on
the run...
We're waiting...

Why be so childish?
Don’t you think the issue is worth conscientiousness?
\Or do your Chinese masters just want Trump defeated at any cost?
compared to your silliness the Monty Python skit is intelligent.
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Nothing to see here. Move along, move along...
And I don’t mean my posts and points. (and stolen memes.)
I mean the points made by everyone else here that you are
ignoring and belittling.
Someone’s not giving us their best.

Was just watching this spoopy guy taking about this stuff...

Edward Snowden
Be silly and you’ll be belttled. Not just by me but by everyone.
If you have any even ‘decent’ evidence that contract tracing is being done in a nefarious way then post it.
Yes, hard to do now since so little contact tracing is going on...
Sad that you reach out to fools for support. I don’t care though.
Enjoy Free Republic- it’s meant for all conservatives.
“evidence that contract tracing is being done in a nefarious way”
No. I have not claimed to have such evidence.
The system we’ve been discussing is only in the process
of being implemented.
Your Straw Man is a Myth, Mrs. Mith.
So let’s put in place a new 300,00 person TSA style army,
and a global tracking and tracing system and just see if
any nefarious contract tracing gets done.
We know that’s OK with you.
What we want to know is...
Why to you think for one second that that should be OK with us?
~Easy
Correction. Typo..
Data indicate 300,000 contact tracing army.
Not 30,000
I get that you don’t want Trump to have contact tracing as a tool to fight the virus.
But you don’t seem able to make a case for your view. Just spouting,,, whatever.
And. yeah, you did claim to have evidence. But now admit that you don’t.
Keep an eye on local contact tracing. If you see evidence of nefariousness scream loudly. I, and many, will be with you.
“I get that you dont want Trump to have contact tracing
as a tool to fight the virus.”
Why do you say that?
He HAS contact Tracing, like we’ve HAD for decades.
I’ve no hissy fit issue with that.
It’s fine.
It’s enough.
Next Straw Man, Mrs Myth...
I’m an old man... Refresh my memory.
what evidence claim of mine are you talking about?
Post #?
~Easy
Thanks for your reply with your point of view. It gives me an opportunity to better understand your view and contrast with mine, which should be helpful for both of us.
You say The only dog I have in this is Trump- who needs good contact tracing to keep the virus down while we open up.
My point: Trump (as POTUS) is the de-facto executive manager of the US Government, and has a large team to assist him, some who agree with his decisions and some who do not. It is NOT Trump who needs contact tracing, nor has Trump even indicated understanding or support for this CDC (Center for Disease Control) implementation of government Contact Traceing.
CDC is dedicated to protecting health & promoting quality of life through prevention and control of disease, injury, and disability. NIH (National Institute for Health) Directed by Dr. Anthony Fauci, works in lockstep with CDC and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to create and enforce regulations, which are treated as the force of law. This huge bureaucracy was almost all appointed by previous administrations, with political allegiances to other than Trump, and has enormous political support in all segments of the medical, pharmaceutical, and food industries, with huge financial implications which may have significant influence on regulations and Strategies within this bureaucracy.
Specifically, Contact Tracing is a strategy already implemented by the CDC, with the force of regulation.
Next, you say Of course China doesnt want him to have that tool so the internet is full of wild fears and suspicions about the process.
China knows its stuff when it comes to propaganda.
My point: I dont see any connection at all to what China wants, nor have I seen any indications that the fears and suspicions about the process (which are certainly widespread among American Citizens) have anything at all to do with China.
It is exactly those fears, as well as understanding the real issue that is the basis of those fears, that I am addressing in this article.
Next, you say And I did address your point on mismanaged contact tracing- if it comes dont participate.
It shouldnt be nefarious, and is not supposed to be because they want cooperation.
And Ill point out that I raised the issue of privacy. I think it reasonable to worry in this day of huge databases that laziness, ineptitude or even malice may result in breeches.
Actually, I agree with both these points. But Ill insist that even though It shouldnt be nefarious, and is not supposed to be because they want cooperation. it is, in fact, severely flawed, both in strategy and implementation, and even worse in violation of constitutional principles.
Were not there yet, but we will get there.
I am sorry it feels like Monty Python to you, but I actually understand. This is an extremely complex problem with a huge, powerful bureaucracy with many hidden connections and motivations. We are in a political war, and those are NEVER easy.
Please hang in there.
“No, it should not, but more than enough evidence has been
presented, here even, that there ARE, in fact, nefarious
interests involved, at a delicate and dangerous time in
this country.”
Seems that was posted by ...someone?
Fair post.
But, frankly, You seem a China plant.
We’ll see.
FR is fair, don’t worry if you’re not. We take a wide view of conservatism.
Well what are you people excited about?
It must be pretty obvious that I am a Free Republic Newbie, as CJ Wolf outed me nicely in post 48.
Newbie or not, I am trying to be a fast learner. I do consider Free Republic to have great potential for learning, as well as collaborating to understand issues, influence opinions, develop solutions, and suggest actions to resolve important problems. Thats why Im here.
I have posted in several other articles, but this is the first one I have started.
It has been an interesting experience, and I have seen a wide array of styles, ranging from carefully thought out and informative, questioning, humorous, argumentative, or even insulting.
I actually dont have a problem with any of those, and Im not pointing at anyone, as each can have a purpose.
One result of this mixture of styles, however, is that sometimes the fundamental issue(s) in the article gets confused, covered up, or even lost.
So, Ill just try to condense the issue this article is intended to address.
Contact Tracing by the CDC.
Its stated purpose (alert when you contact an infected person) seems desirable, (controlling spread of Covid-19)
Its strategy sounds logical and simple; however, it has a major flaw that will make it totally ineffective for detecting infected people (its fundamental purpose)
It is extremely expensive (300,000 people required to administer), given the stated plans in the CDC documentation
Although not admitted now, it is actually designed to track vaccination records, with the potential to enforce vaccination of the total population, and contracts to produce those tracked vaccination devices are already in place.
Given all the above, this whole strategy appears to potentially violate the constitutionally guarantee of privacy of American Citizens.
Oh yah...We're all the stupid ones...And we should be more appreciative that you blessed us with your presence...With your superior knowledge and everything...
Last I knew it took two weeks for the antibody tests to complete their cycle??? AND, these antibody tests could not differentiate between Covid 19 and any other flu...But yet we get a daily readout of the number of deaths from the virus Nationwide...A little odd???
I'm probably a little behind but I haven't seen the explanation of what it is that allows the testers to determine what type of virus you have from a nose swab...What is there that is different from the common flu and the Chi Com flu???
We're watching the politicization of every non partisan dept., branch and office in the U.S. repertoire...And then we should take the word of Fauci who changes his mind more often than I change my socks and Bill Gates, who incidentally wants to reduce world population thru vaccines??? And then they vote in Resolution 6666 that talks about removing kids from their parents if there's a danger of passing off this virus from parents to the kids...
They can't even agree if this virus was transferred from eating dead bats or if it was created in a lab...And Fauci who is really pushing this vaccine gave this lab in question three and a half million dollars???
No...I have no interest in this vaccine and in my view neither should any other right leaning American...
In mid-January, before the Covid-19 pandemic emergency was declared, I and two of my senior citizen children (a clue to my age) were simultaneously ill with severe symptoms very close to Covid-19. We all recovered in about 3 weeks.
After the emergency was declared and the shutdown initiated, two different tests (VIRUS TEST and ANTIBODY TEST) were available. It is important to understand the different purposes and use of these tests. This link provides the most complete current information.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/testing-in-us.html
The VIRUS TEST checks for tiny DNA (actually RNA) samples of the virus itself to confirm whether a person is infected with novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. Note that this test involves DNA analysis of a mucous swab with sophisticated equipment and time consumed to perform.
Initially, resources to accomplish this were in short supply and had 5 to 10 days turnaround for each test. New equipment is now available (in limited supply) that can provide turnaround in less than an hour IF it is on site at the test location.
Otherwise, a test is available at LabCorp which requires a home administered swab and delivery to LabCorp for about two days turnaround for results.
The VIRUS TEST should return a positive indication starting a day or two AFTER a person becomes infected and until that infection ends and the person is no longer contagious. It should return a negative indication both before and after this period.
The ANTIBODY TEST is much simpler and quite different, and with a quite different purpose. Instead of looking for the virus itself, this is a serology (blood) test that looks for antibodies that the persons immune system has produced to combat the virus.
The simplest and least expensive ones use a drop of the persons blood (either from a finger stick or a laboratory blood draw) in contact with a compound containing a portion of the RNA from the virus that will change color if it encounters an antibody against that virus.
Results are available in 10 to 15 minutes after applying the drop of blood to the test device.
This test is simpler and much less expensive than the virus tests and has been available in large quantity in several versions from different sources since early in March, with widely varying levels of accuracy.
The accuracy of such a test is measured in “sensitivity” and “specificity”. Sensitivity is the test’s ability to correctly identify those with antibodies (true positives) and specificity is the test’s ability to identify those without the antibodies (true negatives).
The purpose of this test is simply to determine whether your immune system has developed antibodies to this virus and therefor you MIGHT have immunity to future infection from this virus.
If you have never been infected, or even are currently infected (not yet immune) this test should indicate negative.
If you were infected two weeks to several months before, this test should indicate positive.
If you are interested in getting this antibody test for yourself, at least one pretty accurate one is now available without a doctors prescription from Quest Diagnostics, which I got to answer the immunity question for me.
My result was negative, indicating that my infection in January was NOT Covid-19, and therefore I must continue to try to avoid Covid-19 infection, as I am clearly in the high risk group for this disease.
However, that does NOT mean that I am in favor of this pandemic panic shutdown,
In fact I believe this shutdown significantly increases the dangers to me, in many ways, not the least of which is the government control and power grab fiasco embodied in this CONTACT TRACING platform.
I’m certainly NOT a China plant.
I am a proud member of the “Greatest Generation”, born into poverty at the height of the “Great Depression” and in the heart of the “dust-bowl” in Kansas.
I have enjoyed a long and productive life in this Great America from that start.
I am currently engaged in the struggle to restore and maintain that greatness. #KAG
