I just spent a considerable amount of time reviewing everything I could find from our immensely powerful CDC on this subject, starting here at their index.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/open-america/contact-tracing/index.html
Within that link you will find:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/principles-contact-tracing.html
Within that are many pdf documents with detail.
The principles-contact-tracing-booklet.pdf is a pretty clear outline.
The download link to that pdf is at the bottom of that page.
Apple and Google (Android) have already introduced apps to support this massive tracking effort in support of the CDC.
Apple in iOS 13.5 introduced an exposure notification API, which lets apps from public health authorities and governments worldwide help people figure out if they've been exposed to COVID-19, (to support Contact Tracing).
Android apps are promised as well. I found a link with a good explanation of this app.

I suspect very little, if any.
At the moment I believe the only thing accomplished so far is a dramatic (and unconstitutional) intrusion into our civil rights with this Contact Tracing sham.
ping!
Step right up and sign your freedoms away!!!
You have to opt in to have your phone do this.

Welcome to Free Republic.
Laura Ingraham did a great segment on this contact tracing BS, tonight.

You have to opt in to have your phone do this.
Are you sure you don’t have to opt out/disable?
Most people will cooperate.
I encourage all to do so.
It’s a pandemic! You’ve a responsibility to others.
Thanks very much.
This is a new world for me, and I welcome any advice.
Forget the phone stuff!
But real contact tracing is needed.
I expect the info to be treated with the respect it deserves.
You’re kidding right?
But real contact tracing is needed.
I expect the info to be treated with the respect it deserves.
We’ll have to agree to disagree, on that.
Nothing but a privacy invasion/control measure.
NO THANKS!
Do they contact trace flu? AIDS?
I believe they do contact trace AIDS (not sure).
If flu was new they would contact trace it!
Comparison to flu...
This is like a whole new flu. It kills people like the flu does- but it’s new. The flu has been around forever, if it was new we’d go nuts over it’s deadliness.
Yeah, the info from contact tracing needs to be protected.
In fact, they are tracing cases now: I have a nurse friend at an inner city clinic in Albuquerque that cares for migrants. black and Hispanic minorities, and urban Indians, and they have been tracing contacts for Covid cases.
Often these folks live in a house with many other family members, so the entire extended family is at risk.
As one example: The high rate among the Navajo started when a man from Phoenix decided to attend a local revival on the reservation. The virus spread to those who attended the church service, and they took it home to their families.
The Navajo have a high rate of poverty, and many members have diabetes or high blood pressure. But the main reason it spread so badly was because Native Americans care for their frail, elderly or sick family members.
(I've worked among the Navajo and the Apache) and here in the Philippines, we are starting to have enough tests to check for contacts: I hope so. You see, we were covid free in our area until some nurse decided to visit family for a birthday party. Now we are back in semi lockdown, and to go to another city need to be screened and given a health certificate before we travel.
I keep thinking I’m going to see a sarcasm tag on your post....
LOL!
Come on if flu was new you’d be frightened out of your mind of it.
I don’t think they contact trace AIDS infected. The left would have fits over that, wouldn’t they?
Do they contact trace Hepatitis? Don’t you want to know if your food prep person may be infected?
Nope...no contact tracing. Not worth the loss of privacy.
Life Insurance companies would love it, though, I’m sure.
It’s an invitation wonderland to scammers.
They used to blood test people before getting married. I don’t think the state has any business in marriage or testing or mandatory vax. My body My Choice. No T.Hanks vax for me. I prefer you wear a mask and walk away, I want no Contact with you. (more of a statement toward the contact tracer enablers) #youknow #notdirectedto-ward-Jane-Long #buttoUds #dontTraceMEBro
Well, CJ you could just click on my name to answer your question.
