Have you run into any COVID busybodies? I'd love to hear your stories and personal experiences. Post them here!
As I have said before on other threads I opt for a Shemagh wrapped SAS style or Bedouin style. If I need it to get in it qualifies. I look like a ISIS commercial.
I never have got any backtalk from a Karen yet as I wear a body cam to record any unpleasant interactions. It seems to keep them away. I have gotten dirty looks though.
I have run into some “You need to social distance” nazis as I hike around the neighborhood.
The reply is usually “As-salamu alaikum. Chelb”
I think youre right about these guys trying to hurt POTUS.
What I hope happens soon is liability protection for the businesses opening up. Thats the issue imo.
I took my 91yo dad to the doctor’s office for a yearly checkup. He was gasping for air wearing that mask which was a requirement for entering their offices (also had to take our temps). I told the doctor and nurses that the whole corona virus hype was BS and they agreed. They told my dad to take off his mask. I’m so sick and tired of these idiots who think they are experts on the virus and who bend over backwards to please our govt betters. They compete to show who’s the most compliant.
I’m surprised they even broke it up at a private residence.
LOL!
you need to reply “I unfriend you”
LOL
LOL, I know what you mean. Most of the people I see here wearing them are over 65. I’m 65 with asthma so my doctor recommends I wear one in crowds during flu season. I have seen some people that are obviously going through chemo wearing them. I also don’t care if others wear one or not. To me it’s a personal choice. There are some very good conservatives that wear them but not for COVID. The bullying by some on the right concerns me. Right now most is verbal but if this goes on too long I’m afraid things will turn violent. I’d hate for some really sick or elderly person to be afraid to wear one out of fear of being hurt.
Most of the masks that I see are homemade and kind of cute. I make them for family but mine are pretty mild. :-) I make them double layer with a filter pocket and adjustable ear loops. They aren’t N95’s but are better than nothing when medical masks can’t be found. So far I have made and donated around 80. I never sell them. In fact, I’ll be glad to see the medical masks back in good supply so I can retire from mask making. I buy a box of medical masks in summer when they aren’t as needed to have them by fall.
Most people I’ve encountered in public think this stuff is ridiculous.
Then there is Facebook...
I went hiking in the hills above Palo Alto yesterday. I noticed when I got about 3 miles into the hills and forest, nobody had a mask on. But when I hiked down another way and got closer to my car, there were more and more masks. I think I see a correlation here: people healthy enough to go some distance are sensible and don’t wear masks (like your husband and his friends). But those that go only short distances are scared and wear masks.
Yes, that would certainly qualify. Is that a true story? People do get arrested for stuff like that.
Yes it is. Democrats are trying so hard to keep the economy down that businesses are afraid to start back up over the fear of being sued if somebody gets sick. The businesses in my state are doing great opening up. Regardless of politics, they are following guidelines to protect themselves and customers. If a business asks you to wear a mask it’s not for your protection. They don’t want to get shut down over it or be sued. I comply for the business, not for the government. I want that business to stay in business and if it takes me wearing a mask I’ll wear the mask. The government can go pee up a rope.
I’m elderly and crippled. and still I have to walk all the way up an aisle I don’t need to get on the frozen food aisle.
The idea had occurred to me.
My wife, on hearing some of the replies on this thread, said that if anyone approached her about a lack of a mask, she’d reply, “My body, my choice”.
It’d be the truth, and would give the added (hopefully head-exploding) emphasis on liberal replies to the abortion thing.
That being said, I really have not encountered busy bodies in person...yet. And I have been going to the work office about half the time since this has happened, even been taking public transit. Now on social media, I have encountered a bunch.
One local store that I use has done away with the one way aisles. In another, just today, an employee bitched at me for going the wrong way. It was impossible to use that aisle anyway since she had the aisle blocked with a pile of cartons and her fat ass.
You can probably guess which one was Walmart.
LOL. Nice retort! Did she ask for proof?
At least down here in rural Florida, they're not stupid enough to think one way aisles in the grocery store are going to confuse the virus.
But they do limit the number of people in the store at one time by order of the county commissioners.
Thing is, they don't enforce any safe 6 ft distancing between people once they're inside. So what's the point? It's all "feel good" stuff that doesn't make anybody any safer but they're impressed that they're making an effort.
