The scientists have seen unexpected things in supercurrentselectricity that moves through materials without resistance, usually at super cold temperaturesthat break symmetry and are supposed to be forbidden by the conventional laws of physics, said Jigang Wang, a professor of physics and astronomy at Iowa State University, a senior scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory and the leader of the project.
"The forbidden light gives us access to an exotic class of quantum phenomenathat's the energy and particles at the small scale of atomscalled forbidden Anderson pseudo-spin precessions," Perakis said.

Wang's recent studies have been made possible by a tool called quantum terahertz spectroscopy that can visualize and steer electrons. It uses terahertz laser flashes as a control knob to accelerate supercurrents and access new and potentially useful quantum states of matter. The National Science Foundation has supported

But can it be used to kill people?

"I just knew unobtanium had to be involved somehow." Right, same place they find raw transformium. ;-)

I hate to be so pessimistic, but doesn't this mean that china is already weaponizing this discovery that American taxpayers funded?

Musk announced the idea of the Hyperloop in 2013 and is now in testing mode. The Hyperloop, once developed, has the potential to carry both human and cargo loads at top speeds of 620 miles/hour. It works by utilizing a linear electric motor to accelerate an electromagnetically levitated pod through a low-pressure tube. The first real life successful testing of the Hyperloop was just completed in the Nevada desert. An underground tunnel containing a testing unit was moved across the desert at 70 miles per hour. While there is a way to go before the hoped speeds are reached, this testing milestone puts Musk's vision one step closer to reality.Any chance our military intelligence people have been working on this for some time?
