Flubros and Flubras! Day 57 (a place for Flubros and Flubras)

It’s just the flu, bro.

After seeing Fauci get questioned by Rand Paul it is clear that Fauci is well-spoken and intelligent. He also is very educated and experienced. For him to advise on public health policy as poorly as he has means that he is 1. evil, and/or 2. A Democrat stooge. I am glad Trump is downplaying his role and I look forward to his “retirement” in November.

It’s useful to look at how CV has played out in Italy, South Korea, Spain, and other countries that seem to be further along with disease’s progression. This CV is on the way out and any talk of second waves is overstated.

Basically the R0 for this must be overstated, probably by the same scientists who said 2.2 Million will die in the US, and this leads to a lower threshold needed for herd immunity. R0 is the average of how many people catch the virus from a single infected person, assuming everyone is susceptible. The effective R goes down as the disease spreads. Herd immunity threshold = 1-1/R0. Initially scientists said 60% of the population need immunity for this disease to go away, but we are seeing a rapid decline of CV in NYC and other places with only 20% possessing antibodies.

Looking forward to Governor Abbott opening more of Texas on Monday. When a larger state like Texas opens up and everything is OK it puts tremendous pressure on those left wing governors.

First. Thanks for sharing your story. My sympathies on the loss of your dad and prayers for your mom.

One of the least reported stories is the toll the lock down is taking. Suicides up, drug use is up. Children afraid. Adults with no purpose will fall into depression.

Our main fault here is that we believe we can control what’s going on. We are acting as we have never acted before. We assume we can extend our life one day and the truth is we can’t. It is a profound statement of loss of faith.

My sister has a 6 year old and my sister is a front line provider. Her daughter asks everyday she goes to work If mommy is going to die. That is something that is beyond belief. My sister has a wise answer. Even if she were to get the virus she would be just fine. And even if she were on of the small number of people who died, then Jesus has her.

This represents in my judgement the first worldwide event where our profound lack of faith is in full display. When you don’t believe in anything beyond what you have you become fearful to lose it

Perhaps there will be an awakening of our christian roots due to this. What I do know is that everything works together for the Glory of God. There is something going on here and we don’t yet know what. But God surely does.

All the best to you as well.

Jeff Sessions? I never had much use for him early. Even back when he was a Senator. I pretty much had him pegged for a snake.

I love Trump. I will vote for him not because he is bombastic or loud—I really don’t like those aspects of his style.

I will vote for him because I agree with his policies. I look at what he has accomplished and it works for me, and my family. I believe what he is getting done is good for the country.

I’ve never voted democrat. I live in MA. In 1980 I voted for Reagan. Never looked back. So, in 40 years two votes for Federal office have mattered: 1984 and when Scott Brown won.

I don’t think most people will blame trump for the virus. I think his recent change in tactics —stopping the briefings and allowing his press secretary to take the lead is outstanding.

It surprises me that folks here think people are going to blame Trump for any of this stuff.

He has so much positive stuff to present about this during the election. And while we are hip deep in this stuff, the average person is not paying attention until late in the summer. And by then, the Democrats will be such a mess it will be hilarious.

NO, my point about the paranoia, ignorance, and arrogance was directed at the way some people are acting during this time. Its a little uncomfortable, and they freak out. The media acts like the media, and they freak out.

The amount of posts on FR that are tied to well known conspiracy sites and writers is much higher than it used to be. And some of these sites make Q look completely SANE in the acrobatics they use to “proof” the Q-posts.

People are afraid. They are uncomfortable. And they are lashing out.

THAT is what I find very similar to early state dementia patients.

In my opinion, the Flubros would be better served with some discussions about how to prepare for the next couple of years, rather than dealing with a minor inconvenience of wearing a mask to the grocery store today.

Agreed.

I believe some areas of they US will do better than others economically. Some will do worse - much worse. The county next door probably has unemployment around 20%. I'd like to say that is atypical for many areas - I suspect it is not.

The problem is that supply chains are disrupted - which you were mentioning months ago would happen. Hopefully one good thing that comes out of this is more regional supply chains to fuel more regional businesses.

I also suspect that many jobs are not coming back. And I don't think that the federal government can keep paying people $600/week. Not only for fiscal reasons but for social reasons (it is a disincentive to not return to work for some).

And how does Washington want to solve this? Senator Portman wants to pay a bonus to workers who come back to work and don't take the $600 a week. When I read that, I came close to cracking open a beer.

-see https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/13/gop-senator-floats-bonuses-for-people-to-go-back-to-work.html

Madness.

I think the economic damage is more substantial that many people will admit.

That too is a poignant story. And I think you have nailed the root of much the fear out there. None of us are promised tomorrow. A few evenings ago, a friend of ours a few blocks away was out for a stroll and was run over by a car at a blind corner. She probably cheated death by a few inches and now faces a long rehab from her injuries.

I was wondering about Food City. I haven’t been in ours for a while. And we don’t have any Food Lions here. At Walmart the employees must wear masks, but hardly any of the shoppers do.

Your experience is similar to mine - Food City, Publix, Walmart (I think) all wearing masks, but most customers do not.

I made it to an actual sit down restaurant Monday, since I got out of work earlier than usual. The employees had masks and gloves. The poor waitress - her mask kept slipping under her nose, and she had to keep adjusting it back up. She was kind enough to sit at my table and chat for a bit (I was the only customer for about 10 minutes). It's clear that she's wearing it solely because its required.

Restaurant is a small local Italian chain, of which there are few in this area. Very good food IMHO, and Monday was no exception.

I'm heading to the gym this afternoon. That should be interesting. Precautions are in place, yada yada yada, but I won't be wearing a mask. But, will wipe down the machines I use, and wash my hands before and after working out, just as I did before the Plandemic was orchestrated.

I didn’t say you were a flu bro, in fact, I called you a fearbro.

I believe the reaction to the CCP coronavirus is wildly overblown and more about control than disease prevention, and I chafe at the loss of freedoms from petty tyrants.

And my graphic was a warning that you (as well as everyone else) are being conditioned to see our freedoms as selfish. And you are reinforcing that conditioning.

The fact that you replied so harshly was surprising.

I really hope you are wrong about your predictions.

We went to Aubrey’s restaurant last week, and it was a joy to “eat out” again. Wait staff had masks — poor things.

Aubrey's was the last place I ate before the plandemic shutdown. My first time there - very good burger.

I drove by Northgate on the way home from work yesterday. Aubrey's is right along the road there, and the outside dining was hopping!

You must live pretty close to me. Perhaps we were together on the Market Street Bridge protesting for freedom a few weeks ago!

Social distancing and hand washing absolutely work. Complete shut downs do not.

If two people in close proximity wear masks and adhere to good hygiene the results are effective. The reason is that the mask makes them conscious of touching their face. No one is walking around in a Biolevel 3 suit which is what would be necessary (a “bunny suit” that we used to have to don in order to work in the ORs.). I think you might be missing the “practical” application of the mask.

If you are outdoors and not within range or people...go without the face bra.

Again with the “your leftist governor” bullshit attack. I live in a state with a R governor and he has done a great job taking over some of the nursing facilities—and sending in the national guard to make sure they are protected. They created zones within wings and floors so the elders would be protected. He followed the recommendations of his staff and of the public health departments (they are not ALL sinister assholes.)

Quarantines have never been about gathering the sick together. I am not sure where that concept developed in conservative circles. Even the origination of the word was related to keeping a ship in harbor for 40 days. They did not keep the sick crew in place—they kept the entire crew in place. In the middle ages, entire towns were shut down—not just the sick people.

With a disease as contagious as this one (albiet not deadly) it would be impossible to “quarantine just the sick.” That whole meme is uninformed and doesn’t even come close to the reality of a real quarantine. You might want to do a few minutes of reading on the history of the process.

You used plandemic. That tells me pretty much all I need to know. By using that you are telling me that this whole thing was planned by “someone” to do “something.”

I completely disagree. Having worked in Emergency Management with the Local and State agencies I can assure you there have been plans for this for ages. What happened every year during flu season is that the hospitals and systems dipped into their “emergency” stockpiles, thinking they could replace them. When the time actually came—the items were not available. This include Vents, PPE, etc.

Anecdotally, our EP director retired in April. When the Emergency was declared he went to the Heath Commissioner and told her, “Here is the plan. Call me if you need anything. This is what we walked about during the budget process last year, and you suggested to the Mayor that I was being over-alarmist....”

What you witnessed was not a “plandemic” but an example of socialized medicine. Its already here and people do not realize it. CMS sets the rates for everything—including what insurance will pay. Very few insurance plans pay more than what Medicare pays on the base. Therefore hospitals are cut to the bone-much as they would have been under Bernie. (And if you think the cry for socialized medicine was loud before, what until your local community hospital declare bankruptcy. Its coming..running at 40% capacity is going to support about 25% of the expenses—even with Covid help.)

Governments had been cutting Emergency Preparedness Budgets for years. And the stuff they spent money on was all about inclusion, natural disasters, and terrorism. They were caught flatfooted because 99% had never even met their Emergency Management Directors or reviewed their plans.

Every grant for the past 15 years has been surveillance related, terrorist related, or decontamination related. You have noticed, I am sure, that the disposal of the bodies in large impacted areas has gone pretty much without a hitch. That is because of the aftermath of the Boston Marathon Bombing—everyone was about mass casualties. Not about pandemics.

Those of us who were paying attention in early January knew this was going to be a mess—if only through our experience and awareness of the status quo AND the people running the shows. They hadn’t prepped or drilled for this. I am 18 months out of the job and I could pretty much recite the mass casualty plans for our our district. We drilled on epidemics once during the ebola scare. The post mortem was pretty much summed up as, “We’re screwed.” And if this turned out worse, they would have been.

So, the “plandemic” you speak of is a result of a typical government FUBAR and a media that expects everyone to act perfectly at every occasion. Certainly, that is not a standard they could live up to.

Even the first presser that Trump had regarding the virus was a disaster from an Emergency Prep standpoint. He should have used that opportunity to lay out the structure of the response—which is Local:County:State with Federal Support. Not the other way around. That is how the structure was created and managed. He could have laid that all out. Instead he said it was a nothing burger, “just the flu bro.”

In MY context, the onus would have ALWAYS been on the governors, with the Feds and Trump providing nothing but WINS. Instead, the first step out of the gate, he is flat footed and the CDC was criminally negligent—because they wanted control. Trump was concerned about turning over control to the Dem Governors. Why? Because he had no idea how this was “supposed” to work.

Honestly, when you call it a plandemic you give the people in charge—and the media—way too much credit.

This is no deep state operation (although the Media is certainly getting their digs in), this is literally no different than a surprise attack (9/11, Saddam going into Kuwait, etc). For the first part of the crisis the government goes “wobbly” as Maggie Thatcher called it.

Then we get our collective shit together and move on.

No, your post makes them sound like they have a plan. They are more like a dog who finally caught a car. It takes them a bit to figure out what they are going to do with it.
