With sporadic reports in recent weeks of cats infected with the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, a group of researchers set out to determine whether cats can transmit the pathogen to one another.

The answer, the scientists said: They can. The question now is whether felines can transmit SARS-CoV-2 back to people.

We know human to cat transmission occurs, why not cat to human?

I don’t rub noses with my little cat Zizu, but I continue to pet her. She is an indoor-only cat, so I think she has very little opportunity to catch the virus and give it to me. The closest she comes to being outdoors is coming out on my balcony with me, which she enjoys very much.
