Under normal circumstances she would have gone to the hospital, but she didn’t because of the virus situation in hospitals.
I feel sorry for her and the baby, but I’m amazed that she chose to do this at home.
“11lbs4”
Should that birth have been cesarean?
11 pounds 4 ounces.
Goodness.
Sorry for the child and the family. Tough times.
Sad she wasn’t more strongly advised to give birth in a hospital.
A damn good argument for opening back up before anyone else dies needlessly.
Another casualty of the Coronavirus panic. Very sad.
Of course, no one is counting or publishing the number of people who have died because they delayed or forwent medical treatment due to the lockdown or fear.
Hospitals have on gyms and the NICU right there. That is the only way to have a baby. If one can fend off the docs, the anesthesiologists, the pediatricians, a tall order, one can have a baby and walk out of there in 24 hours.
It’s sad she was afraid to seek care at the hospital. She’ll have this on her conscience the rest of her life. My niece supervises a lab at a Rochester, NY hospital, and she said a week or so ago that they’ve had Leukemia patients who were afraid to come to the hospital for fear of getting the virus, to the point where two out of five of them ended up dying because they waited too long to seek help. I blame the media for scaring people into being afraid to go to the hospital.
In this country about 98% of births are uneventful. It’s the 2% that aren’t that make it wise to be in a hospital with a skilled OB/GYN handling the instruments.
Almost lost my grand nephew to this ill advised "cost saving" measure.....
Ultrasound would have shown the large size of baby.
It was malpractice to attempt a home delivery.
I am convinced most people have taken leave of their common sense and critical thinking skills.
Good God. That are scaring people away from hospitals. Risk is very low for getting the virus having a baby in the hospital. I bet even at the worst time in nyc.
This is the daughter of former Oakland A’s pitcher, Matt Keough, who died just last week, and the granddaughter of Red Sox outfielder Marty Keough.
Chalk up another death as a result of the fearmongering media and the fearmongering Governors and the scolding Karens. The death of this baby is their fault.
It would be interesting to see the deaths caused by the CCP virus panic and the lockdowns, but we will never be allowed to know.
Congratulations, fearmongers.
many years ago a co-worker and his wife decided they wanted a home birth, and the cord ended up wrapped around the kid’s neck and the kid was born with cerebral palsy, and THEN they had a home circumcision done, and the operator ended up cutting off part the little kid’s penis ... this is a true story ...
These women are dumb. I have an educated cousin in ny. NY has some of the best hospitals in the world. She decides going to have home birth for first kid. They go out and buy a friggin $10 plastic kiddie pool for natural water birth.Green stuff began coming out if her she went to hospital.
Hospitals are closed for only “COVID” in most cases. I would guess a million people will die of the side effects or direct effects of not getting care and the effects of societal breakdown. That is probably a low estimate. My “model” is as scientific as the “professional” models: opinion and guess.
Exactly. Im from a generation where it was all the rage to give birth at home, but then some body I knew died from a hemorrhage that could have been dealt with in a hospital....but not by the midwife in her kitchen.
That said, in this case, the baby was very large and Im surprised her OB doc didnt insist on her being in a hospital in case a C-section was needed.
But prayers for this woman.
This is only the beginning .... wait until they start doing late term abortions at home with the PP Abortions for Dummies Home DVD.
