So many great lines ... what made them great was Jerry Stiller’s delivery. A truly fine comedian and actor. RIP, Mr. Stiller.

Yep. Delivery is everything in comedy. (That’s why a lot of people can’t tell a joke)..and he was great at it.

Jerry Stiller sits on the couch with a shocked look on his face, turns to Steinbrenner and says “Why did you trade Jay Buhner?”
One of the funniest moments in a TV show just crammed with funny moments.

yes :) like coming onto football threads and saying they haven’t watched a game in forever.

then they list the “better” things they have to do.

like type here :)

or the article will be about a very well known celebrity that if you’re breathing you will know about...and some come on the thread to say “who?” :)

it’s become very predictable that there will be a few on any thread like that :)

I loved his role in King of Queens. Hilarious.

That’s how I knew him best. He was great.

Jerry had a 60+ year career where he was regularly on television and appearing in nightclubs with his wife Anne Meara yet most of the media stories on him start out “the father of Ben Stiller”. I’m sorry he gave birth to a son so naturally ugly that he needed plastic surgery before he could get more than a supporting role in Hollywood but Ben Stiller should be labelled “the son of Jerry Stiller”, not the other way around.

That would be like labelling Donald Trump “the father of Barron Trump” as if we wouldn’t otherwise know who he was.

He did frustrated powerless rage for comic effect as well as anyone, ever.

I recall seeing the guy when I was a kid and he would do the comedy stuff with his wife—on things like the Mike Douglas show.

I watched almost every Seinfeld...and I enjoyed them.

I never watched King of Queens (or whatever.) I guess it was when my kids were smaller and I was on the road a lot. There is about 14 years of TV that I missed working afternoons and evenings, away from home.

But the man was talented. He was funny. He was NOT those characters in real life—but his ability to deliver a line was exceptional.

(That’s how you write it when you don’t know a part of his body of work!)

He toured with Rush, too.

He and his wife were great entertainers. The first time I saw them was on Steve Allen’s precursor to The Tonight Show.

Last night I watched “Highway to Hell” with all 3 of them in it playing but parts. They were all in hell. All Jerry wanted was a cup of coffee in a diner. Anne was the waitress and she never gave him one, for eternity. One of those movies that is so bad, is good.

"Festivus for the rest of us. Comedy gold."

Jerry: "Why do they call it OVALtine? The jar is round, the label is round."

Kenny Banya: "That's gold, Jerry! Gold!"

"I’m the only person in America who never watched Seinfeld."

I didn't start watching until almost the end of its run, then I caught-up by watching all the re-runs.

Didn’t his wife also appear on King of Queens with him? Their characters got married at one point I think.
