There are reports out of Iran of a “friendly fire” accident of some sort where an Iranian destroyer has sunk a second Iranian naval vessel:

Sorry, not one of those. “Kenarak†is a mistranslation of “Konarakâ€, which is (was) a small tender. Reports are the Jamaran sunk her with anti-ship missile, which means the Chinese C-802 or Iran’s version of it. Either the crew misidentified the target, or the missile malfunctioned and homed in on the Konarak.
The United States Navy has had a lot of screw-ups in the past year. We need to right our ships too.
Friendly fire? Yeah, right. It was the U.S. Navy or an ally. Iran isn’t going to admit they taunted the U.S one time too many.
Trump recently ordered the Navy to treat those fake runs as real and to take them out if they tried again.
They ran out of Ukrainian airliners.

wouldn’t it be great if we could just project false signals and have them think their own ship is a hostile?
The fact that, while they may get a vessel of ours, their country would be vaporized? Seriously though, I think the response to their successful sinking of one of our vessels would be met with an exponential response - including the old Ronald Reagan response - targeted compounds of their leaders. Trump has what it takes to respond the right way.
