Something non-political and non-virus related for a change. 15 autocorrect fails are here. Some are G-rated, some are R-rated. But all are funny.
By the way, I can relate to these autocorrect fails. Back in 2016 I posted Hildy drew a big fat line. on Facebook. We were discussing art and sketching. It came out Hillary is a big fat liar. Boy, was I embarrassed!
Changing public inspector to pubic inspector is not good.
Why?
Autocorrect screws me so often I call it auto-corrupt. (Was going to say it screws me so often I call it ‘hon’)
As a low level support engineer at Microsoft long ago, I needed to send an email to my boss about an irate beta customer (ya go ahead and post the MS beta jokes now).
By mistake I send the email to BILLG@MICROSOFT.COM. My boss’ email was one letter difference. At the time I sent it I didn’t know what I’d done.
A little later my boss called me in his office. Big smile on his face he said, “You know you sent that email to Bill Gates, right?”
Ah, no.
Turns out Bill Gates got it, knew it was meant for my boss and added his input.
Thought for sure I was fired :)
That’s why I have a seven second send delay on my texting application (Chomp)
A guy I worked with - pretty stuffy and self-important - his last name was Reinecke. It would ALWAYS correct his name to RedNeck . He was anything but.
The person I was talking to was my good friend Chelsea Clinton.
> he texted her saying you’re the first girl who’s ever made me think of the Fuhrer <
LOL. If that guy happens to be a Republican politician, his career is over the instant that text gets out. But if hes a Democrat, lets all have a good laugh, then move on.
My turn.
15 worse links ever sent on FR that have a paywall or adblocker interrupts.
In my work, I type a lot of email, and always end with “Regards,” but for some reason, I type more than there is any logical reason to make a mistake, “Retards,”
One of these days, one of them is going to make it out the door.
Might be good for a laugh, but I don’t disable my adblocker for any site.
> paywall or adblocker interrupts <
I didnt notice that at all. I wonder if the site is hiccuping because of too many visits.
These are just not believable.
It wasn’t an autocorrect, but about 20 years ago, I sent an email to the key contact at the largest customer of the company I worked for.
I don’t remember what it was but it was one of those things that couple be taken two ways. I wrote something and he read something completely different.
A couple hours later I got a panicked call from my boss wondering just what I told the guy.
This was before smart phones and I was gone for the day. I had a pretty sleepless night trying to figure out just what I wrote.
The next day, I reread my sent email and realized how he took it. As soon as time zones allowed, I called him to clarify. He told me that he re-read it and realized what I was actually trying to say. All was good. but it gave me a life lesson that it’s not always possible to convey style and vernacular on an email or text.
A few years ago I was dating a very nice woman.
One day, her granddaughter fell and hit her head.
She went to the ER to make sure she was ok.
The texting with my GF went like this:
GF: I hope she recovers soon.
Me (auto correct) I hope she DIES.
Autocorrect had changed my “DOES” to “DIES.”
I came within a nanosecond of hitting send before I saw the mistake.
phew
I came from a town in nor California called Orick. When I first got my phone unbeknownst to me Google decided a P was more appropriate than an O.
In the early 1980’s I was 26 years old and had just started a job as a full time business professor at the University.
A very well endowed beautiful blond asked a question and I meant to respond “Did you test your answer?”
What came out of my mouth was “Did you chest your answer?”
The 40+ students in the class lost it, laughing at me. I turned red and was speechless, had to walk out in the hallway to regain my composure.
After the class, I profusely apologized to her.. She smiled back and said it was ok.
Big sigh of relief!!!
