New York needs billions from Washington, no strings attached
Daily News ^ | 5 May, 2020 | Tom DiNapoli

Washington has responded to the unprecedented economic disruptions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic with extraordinary measures to bolster our nation’s health-care system, keep businesses afloat and support tens of millions of unemployed Americans. Given the vast scope of the public health and economic challenges we face, our federal government must go further. Federal aid for state and local governments that matches the depth of the crisis is urgently needed.

The language of “revenue shortfalls” and “fiscal cliffs” used to describe these challenges may seem distant from the concerns of New Yorkers who are struggling to pay their bills and keep their families safe. Make no mistake: Ensuring that states and local governments get through this crisis is a bread-and-butter issue with immediate and tangible consequences.

Keeping states and municipalities solvent means keeping police, firefighters, teachers and health-care workers on the job; maintaining social services for our most vulnerable residents; and avoiding tax increases that could hurt working families and small businesses, or longer-term deficit borrowing that would impose today’s costs on tomorrow’s taxpayers.

The case for direct, unrestricted federal aid is clear.

The revenue shortfalls are directly related to the high spending and high taxes chosen by the voters of these states. They are responsible and they ALONE should pay. Illinois had their property tax go up by two-thirds in one year a few years back. Good example to follow.

If any city that should have been prepared it should have been N.Y.

But no, the Socialist Communists sat on their asses. Now they expect US to pay for it?

NOT UNTIL Mr and Mrs DeBlasio come clean about the billions in city funds which have conveniently disappeared.

<><>Mrs DeB got ahold of hundreds of millions in The Mayor's Fund for New York.......
<><> DeB then put her in charge of a mental disease programs which managed to make $800 million disappear.....
<><> and she's now in charge of millions of coronavirus funds.

The two are licking their greedy chops over the federal money they hope will be pouring in.

Translation: "We are holding the state hostage until you send us money."

New Yorkers elected politicians who are going to cause bloodshed in the streets before they are finished. That much is becoming obvious.

New York - and especially NYC, has some of the highest taxes in America. And as a populous state, NY has received a full share of the federal bailout and welfare money. Let NY figure out it’s own finances for awhile!

And I look for it to happen, but not for just NY. Even many of our weak kneed GOP members are saying we should bail out these blue states. This is not the country I grew up in. I’m sick to my stomach at what I am seeing.

The democrats have literally ruined our country with their self-aggrandizing ways. It is sad to think of the men and women who sacrificed their lives, their livelihood, etc. for this nation.

and here you see the real reason why Cuomo banned the use of HCQ in the early stages, outside of a hospital setting- So that he could dry ‘Oh poor us- see how our state is suffering from all the lives lost- we need billions of dollars- we’re all just so devastated”

[He may just do that. Too bad, Bill DeBlasio and Andrew Cuomo.]

I used to think Big Bird/DeBozo was worse. Now that we know Cuomo presided over the insertion of infected seniors into nursing homes, I’m inclined to think that Andy “Chimpface” Cuomo is worse.

Use the tax revenue that you are receiving from taxing volunteers working in NY. That should cover the ta shortfall.
Oh no strings? Chances are slim and none and Slim left town.

A lot of political and crony pockets feel that they deserve to be lined by the out of work taxpayers.

Never allow a crises to go to waste. It allows then to do things that they could not do otherwise. Like enrich themselves.
