Good idea Berlin.

Yesterday rode the 1991 Merckx MX-Leader 31 miles in the Oklahoma winds! 18 mph with gusts to 35.

Bicycle sales skyrocket during 'stay at home' order
With the weather warming up, many people stuck at home are hopping on a bike for some fresh air and exercise.

Since the state's 'stay at home' order was put in place, business has skyrocketed at bicycle shops across Minnesota.

Erik's Bike Shop in St. Paul says sales are up 50%.

Since the store is considered an essential business, it hasn't closed during the pandemic.

I hardly move in such strong wind. I bet you remember that for a long time. Or I guess that is common there. Cheers!

My son wants to build a frankenbike.
Where should I look for a source of used bikes for parts? 2nd hand shops? Goodwill? Etc.
Thank you. Back to bed. Working graveyard this week.

Here’s a field report: I was in the local bike store yesterday getting a new cable. I guess bike stores are essential. I have never seen the store so busy. And two people walked out with new bikes while I was there. The bicycle trails I ride have been full for weeks.

Some pawn shops have bikes. Might want to check bike shops. They might have some parts they’ll just give away.

What I've seen in the last 6 weeks or so, a lot of people out walking or bicycling.

MANY of those bikes look like walmart crapcycles that have probably been sitting in the garage for 10 years.

But it's a start.

I see that there is a ‘virtual’ Giro going on but I am totally uncomprehending of it outside of being a charity operation. How do you do virtual teams etc is ludicrous IMHO.

It looks like they are trying for a restart in late summer in Europe of the stage races. Personally I like the idea of a combined triple starting in Rome, 7 days Italia, 7 days España and 7 days completing at the Arc! May need to lay off of the high mountain passes but hitting Basque country is ESSENTIAL!

“My son wants to build a frankenbike.”

Try Velo-Orange

They have a lot of New Stuff that looks like old stuff

Also, try EBay for NOS older components

I rode about 15 miles in the flat Houston residential streets yesterday. It was a really nice leisurely ride. With the bad ankle, I’ll never be fast again.

There is a bicycle racing computer game where you actually ride the bike with your team in real-time. Sort of like Stratomatic or Out-of-the-Park Baseball.

I bet they are using that game

Some 3,000 protesters on bicycles staged a protest against Slovenia's centre-right government on Friday (May 1), despite gatherings being banned amid a lockdown against the new coronavirus.

The protest in Ljubljana was held for a second week in a row over claims of political interference in the procurement of protective gear and ventilators during the virus outbreak.

Wearing face masks and shouting "Thieves!," the protesters passed through the centre of the city before stopping or riding in circles by the government and parliament buildings.

Slovenian anti-corruption authorities have launched an investigation into the allegations. Government officials have denied any wrongdoing.

I've seen a lot of roadies out by me. And I finally got the Colnago tuned up and on the road for a conditioning/checkout exercise yesterday. You can spend all winter riding a trainer, but it's not the same as riding on the tarmac. I was surprised at how out of shape I was. I was 20 percent slower on my hill route than I was last year.

Getting old sucks.

To keep vehicle traffic and pollution down after the nation-wide lockdown expires on May 11, the French government is offering €50 (C$76.57) per person for bicycle repairs as part of a larger cycling-funding scheme.
